Police officers are frantically searching for an unidentified foreign gunman caught on tape intimidating a group of international sightseers with a pistol at a popular scenic viewpoint in Pattaya.

 

The threatening incident has created a stir, leading Pattaya’s chief of police, Police Colonel Thanapong Phothi, and investigators to accelerate efforts to apprehend the at-large suspect.

 

The concerning footage, which took around 99 seconds to play, offered clear insight into the gunman suspect’s appearance. The foreign man brandishing the firearm is of foreign descent, appears to be between 20 and 30 years old, and stands around 170 centimetres tall.

 

The video reveals him dictating a string of commands to approximately 20 Middle-Eastern male tourists at the Sor Thor Ro 5 hill viewpoint, instructing them to sit huddled next to each other.

 

The aggressor distinguished himself with a black shirt and trousers and demonstrated a chilling presence as the gunman waved his pistol, aiming it directly at the head of one of the scared tourists.

Hey, OK ... I wasn't there but is there a bit of staged about this? 

A few locals wander in from a reasonable distance away- enough to be able to get away - to be confronted by this looner. Why? 

 

Just looks odd to me. 

How bizarre, doesn’t look real.
 

Why would the gunman allow someone to film everything and as above why are more volunteers wondering up close to him to be fleeced.

At one point the gunman puts his arm around one guy who casually brushes it away.. not even looking concerned.

Seems they all know each other very casual. Something up with this.

Chonburi police arrested two Myanmar nationals for shooting a staged video where they pointed a fake gun at a group of Kuwaiti tourists to extort money.

 

The incident took place at a Pattaya viewpoint, tarnishing the city's image. The suspect, aged around 20-30 years, pretended to threaten the tourists, holding a black toy gun and a laser pointer, while their accomplices filmed the incident, reported Thai Rath.

They coerced the tourists into posing as victims for a fake robbery content to be shared on social media.

 

Upon realizing the video's viral spread, the suspects confessed their actions were meant as a life-action content creation.

The police consider their actions unlawful, entailing up to one month in jail or a fine under Article 384 of the Criminal Code.

 

The police also warned YouTubers to be mindful of content creation that could harm Thailand's reputation. Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti tourists are cooperating with the investigation.

Nothing but a prank. I noticed lots of Mideastern youth lately in Pattaya,  make me wonder if parents using the place to break their kids cherry. Reminds me of how parents in HongKong use to send their kids to Korea in the 70-80's ????

That could have turned out deadly if someone with a real gun tried to 'Rescue' them, be it a cop or just a 'concerned' Thai with a gun.
