2020 used Volvo XC90 T8 (2mil thb+) or Brand new 2023 Mazda CX8 2.2 Diesel XDL (2.1mil THB+) with captains chair?

Love the Volvo but have concerns over reliability.

Mazda should be more reliable and has very nice interior quality as well.

Will mostly be fetching inlaws (max 4-5pax) and going on road/camping trips.

Which will you get?

I know it was an either or question, however, hove you considered the Kia carnival.

I have a Mazda CX-5 here, excellent car.

I had the XC-90 inscription in the UK while locked out of Thailand over covid.

Both excellent cars, the Volvo is better.

Thanks for your suggestion. I do prefer the form factor of a SUV.

Good to know that the Volvo has served you well. So many horror stories of how Volvo's are unreliable (air suspension, T8 engines etc) just made me thinking twice about getting this car.

I have a 2022 Mazda CX8 (Captain's Chairs Diesel variety).  It is a very comfortable car to drive - we use it as our holiday car. It has good performance - happily sitting at 140ish on motorways all day (not that I would ever speed!!). Fuel economy , 14 -16km/L.

Suspension is a little soft, but that adds to the comfort. I have just racked up 20,000K - the only issue I have had was a rattle in the left front strut - which was replaced under warranty.

Volvos historically have made good, reliable cars - I have owned a few. I have little first hand knowledge of their newer offerings. What I do know is that Volvo, like Peugeot & other sub "prestige" Euro cars in Thailand depreciate & drop in value like a lead balloon.

I am biased, but in LOS, would go the Mazda .......

volvo for sure. It’s probably still under 100% warranty. High tech and relaible car. Very safe.

Correct.

Mazda are cheap and nasty.

Very incorrect & well out of touch.

Not in the same league...

Volvo feels more refined & is of a higher league… but not to the degree of difference you imply.

I’ve owned both:

2018 XC-90 inscription

2018 CX-5 2.2 diesel.
