How do you train a dog not to pee?  I never go into a restaurant with a dog roaming about.  Lotus's is now on the same list.

Purely in the name of research (OK we needed some non-food stuff) I visited our local Lotus's's's (which is on the list).

I spoke to the security chap and pretty lady on Customer Service.

 

Between their (actually half decent) English and my (pretty useless) Thai we concluded that: -

• Dogs need to be in the basket or a stroller.
• They are OK in the home and wear areas but cannot go into the area with fresh foods.
• It was unclear about the packaged foods areas.

"No-dogs" signs were not in evidence at any of the food outlets, but it was still early and few were actually open.

Most of the staff in my tesco are muslim...customers as well.  But happy to take my little bloke with me when I shop if they would let me.

Perhaps I'll test the policy by taking a rat - although I'll probably be besieged by gourmets asking where the rat counter is.

Dogs are considered haram in Islam, so I doubt a filthy dog would be welcome.

I never buy meat in Thailand that's left out uncovered for hours with who knows what going on around it.

 

Big C used to do the same, but I have no idea if they still do...as it's been ages since I ever shopped there for any fresh meats.

One reason I've grown to dislike life in USA is the proliferation of people and their dogs in hotels, all manner of shopping stores (including sometimes food stores by people who ignore the rules) and most surprisingly airplanes. It's irritating and selfish in my view. When I see people strolling through the mall with dogs on leashes I want to go up to them and ask them. What do you think this place would be like if everyone who owned a pet brought them to the mall? We'd be in a ferking dog park! When I go shopping I do NOT WANT TO GO TO A DOG KENNEL or dog park to do it.

 

Reasons:

1) It's unsanitary and dirty

2) They can be noisy

3) Some dogs actually bite and pick fights with other dogs.

4) Some owners have the gall to think that it's OK for their dogs on leash to make contact with people and smell them etc etc.

5) Many people including me are allergic to dogs and cats.

 

It's the  dumbing down of USA and growth of the Walmart class of Pajama and slipper wearing, overweight, pizza and burger eating unhealthy consumers.

I would imagine if people are taking their dogs to the supermarket they would get followed by the soi dogs that control that area, could get nasty
