The elderly woman who hurled verbal abuse at then Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, during his visit to Ban Pong district in Ratchaburi in March this year, was sentenced to six months and 10 days in jail and fined 1,000 baht today (Tuesday), without suspension, by the Ratchaburi District Court.

In imposing the sentence on the defendant, popularly known in the district as “Pa Na Ban Pong”, the court ruled that she had encroached on the security zone maintained around the prime minister and his entourage.

Police had asked the defendant to leave, but she resisted, said the court, adding that she did not repent for her actions but threatened to sue the officials who were performing their duty at the scene in a manner indicating her disrespect for the law.

I wonder what a 'Speakers' Corner' would look like in Thailand?

(Some Non-UK citizens may have to Google Speakers' Corner?)

A Speakers' Corner is an area where free speech open-air public speaking,

debate, and discussion are allowed. The original and best known is in the north-east

corner of Hyde Park in London - England

It would seem that very little is a Taboo on Speakers Corner.

Loads and loads of it on YouTube ... ... ...

Here's a snippet:

Will she get any time off for good behaviour? Perhaps knock off the odd 10 days.

An immediate kings pardon is what she Should get, IMO.

I'm not keen on 'King's pardons'. Much prefer a 'not guilty'.

But unfortunately she was guilty as charged, 8hrs max community service would have been more of a fitting sentence.

She could claim heart palpitations and get airlifted to a room next to Thaksin.

She could claim anything, but its extremely doubtful anyone would listen, unless she has a few billion stashes somewhere?????

Sad day for free speech both here and in the UK where Suella has said it is illegal to wave a Palestinian flag (but not of course, an Israeli flag).

Amazing. She will spend more time in prison for shouting abuse at the then self appointed prime minister than someone responsible for the killing of thousands. ????

Maybe she has high blood pressure and anxiety she can then get the room next to Thaksin.

Another Martyr for the MFP and those against the mlitary.
