Thailand is always spouting on about how it tries to attract higher net worth individuals, then makes them jump though stupid hoops... The issue of course is that the Op made the mistake of 'discussing that he has plenty of money' on this forum and that tends it irritate those who do not... - Are jealous. - Think the Op is boasting. - Have such short attention spans they struggle to read a long post. The Op does a good job of explaining how Thailand trips over itself where the basics are concerned and as soon as someone wants to 'colour outside of the existing limited and antiquated lines' many difficulties are encountered and convenience and service is not considered important.
