In a recent development, the Director-General of the Corrections Department, Mr. Ratchatathat, has confirmed that former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has undergone CT scans and an MRI to assess his current health condition.

The medical procedures were conducted after Mr. Thaksin experienced recent health issues. His family and close relatives have been informed of the entire process, and the Corrections Department is considering the possibility of granting him parole should his treatment surpass the 60-day mark, reported TV CH3 plus and Agencies.

Recent images circulated on social media depict Mr. Thaksin being transferred on a hospital bed, wearing ablue patient's gown and a medical mask. Two people standing beside the patient's bed appear to be family members.

As reported by Mr. Sakhakan Petcharinrat, the acting Director-General of the Corrections Department, medical staff conducted both the CT scan and MRI on Mr. Thaksin earlier today, concluding the procedures by 11:00 AM. Presently, his condition remains stable, and he has returned to his room within the patient ward.

Specific details concerning his ailment continue to be kept confidential, respecting patient rights and upholding medical ethics.

To clarify the decision to perform the scans, Mr. Sakhakan emphasized that they were unrelated to any brain-related issues. He further explained that the medical team diligently oversees the health of all patients, and the choice to conduct these scans did not originate from Mr. Thaksin himself.

Regarding whether Mr. Thaksin's family had been informed of the scans, Mr. Sakhakan confirmed that it is customary to keep relatives apprised of all aspects of the treatment. Nevertheless, the medical team has not conveyed any extension of Mr. Thaksin's stay beyond the initial 60-day period thus far.

Furthermore, commencing on October 22nd, Mr. Thaksin will begin a phase of receiving treatment outside the prison facility for a duration exceeding 60 days.

In such an eventuality, the medical team will furnish recommendations to the Director-General of the Corrections Department, who will subsequently assess the recommendations and present them to the Ministry of Justice. Should the treatment period surpass 120 days, it will require approval from a ministerial level within the Ministry of Justice.

I certainly do. I want him locked up eating fish heads and rice till he dies. IMO he was the worst thing to happen to Thailand since the Japanese invaded.

  • all going to plan as arranged.

Just make sure that every day in a hospital is not counted as a day in jail. When he is feeling better again then he should resume his time in jail. I think he was already one day in jail, s

I wonder how that has been received. A lot of people seem to want him banged up no matter what state he is in.

It is hard to know what state he is in other than what is expected for a 74 year old man. If he is of reasonable health he should be imprisoned as the justice system (for what it is) has stipulated.

That's a shame.

How many criminals in Thai jails get a medical scan?

That vile man needs to be put in one of the big rooms crammed with bodies, a hole to do one's business in and leg shackles.

I think that by now everything that needed to be said about the man was already said, ( and it was all bad) repeating it will only causes more anger and frustration...

Good, he should be paroled in a couple of weeks or so. And then he can be comfortable while he's sick. I shouldn't wonder that his condition improves markedly when he is released from prison, proving that he really was sick due to prison conditions.

I think he was already one day in jail, so start counting with the 2nd day when he is back in his cell.

Thaksin being treated for chronic megalomania and corruption. He is now stable but these conditions are incurable and will recur harming the entire Thai population.

Interesting that CAT scans and MRI, which is expensive, are often difficult or impossible to obtain in the NHS but the Thai prison service provides them readily to a prisoner with nothing physically wrong with him.

Yes , grant him parole , his new job as a government ' advisor ' is waiting for him ...

AFAIK no operation was performed while he stayed in BKK .

He is suffering from a general ' fatigue ' it seems .

His prolonged 1st class hospital stay should have cured him from that .

So why is he not able to walk ?

All cinema for the people to believe that he is such a poor , sick man who came back to rescue Thailand from the change to poltics that the election brought .

Pantomime season is upon us again. But then it's pantomime all year round here. 'Oh no it isn't.' 'Oh yes it is.' Look behind you! When will Mother Goose's goose be cooked? Never. ????
