A horrifying accident occurred on Pattaya's Third Road in the early hours of the morning, captured on closed-circuit television.

A South Korean man riding a Honda Wave motorcycle, accompanied by a Thai woman, recklessly cut off a German man riding a Yamaha X MAX. The resulting collision left all parties severely injured, reported 77kaoded.

The incident occurred near Mouse Bar, located in the city of Pattaya, around 3:00 am on October 22. Rescue workers from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation, accompanied by an ambulance, quickly arrived on the scene.

The collision involved the German man, identified under the pseudonym Mr. B, aged 55, a South Korean man, and a Thai woman, both of whom remain unidentified.

Initial medical assessments revealed that the German man and the Thai woman sustained critical injuries, while the South Korean man, although also injured, was in a confused state.

Was he breathalyzed at the scene?

After administering first aid, checking DUI should be a primary step.

All over it....

Well, it seems from the text that the Korean was completely at fault... but does anybody seriously think that the German was sober at 3am???

Well, happy that the reporter managed to ascertain fault, and sincerely hope the cops do too!

It says "captured on CCTV"... that would pretty much ascertain the faulty party...

Maybe they were out for a nice cool ride in the fresh air at 03:00

I do that quite often, always without booze.  Nice and cool with far less traffic than in the early evening. It's certainly easy to spot the drunks; a lot less easy to predict how they will react to sudden impulses for snacks, hos, or more booze.

It's great to see the first responder holding C-spine on one of the victims. A spinal injury doesn't heal like the cuts and scrapes do.

Yes, let's keep the bars open until 4am.

All I can add is that the medical first responders and medical care in Thailand is decades ahead of other non-Western countries.

If this happened in other developing nations, the "rescuers" would have thrown the injured into the back of a pickup truck and given them a bumpy ride to the hospital. If they didn't have permanent cervical/neck injuries before, they would have by the end of the ride.

So you have that to look forward to when drinking & driving in Thailand!

German will probably have a heart attack when he gets his bill

Still probably cheaper than the bill in the USA, with insurance.

My pet hate drink drivers going from bar to bar to lazy to walk or get a baht bus, selfish to the core. These 3 hopfuly make a full recovery and have time to refelct on there actions (if indeed they were under the influence of alchole)

He could well have been picking his Mrs up after work.

What was their blood alcohol content? I must have missed it.

Bottom line: foreigners and mini bikes do not mix and should be banned

Road checks do exist all over,

But they are often on the roads leading to areas with a large farang community, mainly in popular beach towns like Patts, Phuket or Hua Hin.  Mainly to get money out of foreigners and not to conduct serious DUI breath tests on site. Wish all the parties a fast recovery.
