Does that really need to be explained to you, but I'll give one example. I was driving sober at the speed limit when another motorist who was speeding and drunk lost control and veered on to my side of the road causing a head on collision. My car was written off, his as well probably.

Perhaps as a result of another vehicle hitting it.

My point exactly. Speed and drunk by 1 party.

You asked if you drive normally. I was driving normally, the other driver was not. But there could be reason where someone had a blowout and lost control, or a cow runs onto the road. Use your imagination.

Yes 1 party was driving poorly. Hard to crash if both parties are sensible. Thanks for proving my point.

I already said there are situations like a blowout or a cow ran into the road, a sinkhole etc, any number of reasons where the motorist isn't at fault.

Fair enough. Thats why I asked.

No, you didn't ask if someone was driving poorly, you said you.

Why didn't you do that instead of asking the obvious question as to how a car gets written off?

Because the OP knows what happened.
