not a penny! as far as i'm concerned, x-mas is a day like any other.

Nothing major, just some mobile phone cases, macademia, a lamp, a cat statue, and some secateurs. It's more about having something under the tree to open than the value.

Just opened and gave her a shop 2 month ago, which already is showing great potential. I will give her a letter that shows it´s all turned into a franchise. Obviously, I will have to hand her the capital to market and build it up too.

I just asked her if she wanted me to buy her something nice or just give her some money so she could buy whatever she wanted. She opted for money. She also said she bought and boxed something for me already. I don't like shopping... she likes shopping.  This is perfect. 

BTW, every Thai I know celebrates Christmas. It has nothing to do with religion for them and everything to do with gifts for and from loved ones.

I think everybody would, if asked, opt for money. I personally like figuring out something I think my girl might like and then buying it for her. The complaints when it isn't what she wanted can be a bit difficult to bear though 😁

Interesting. In all my years here I have never met a Thai who celebrates Christmas who isn't either a Christian, or married to a westerner.

 

New Years Day is generally the day Thais reserve for friends and family gift giving.

Gave her thb 10.000 for christmas and birthday dec 30 th.

She was not happy.

Even if 40% thai families have to manage eith that amount ir less monthly.

I have never in my life been given a months salary as a gift... :-)
