Nope, Nor any other sewing machine car either.

Am happy spending thousands a week on liquified dinosaurs poured into ma tanks.

Blimey. Better buy 2 in case the first one blows up. Parked away from each other of course.

The problem is just not restricted to BYD.

From the same youtube posters, this video seems to imply safety standards in China, are a as most expect.

The push for profits seems to have no limits, just beware of what you buy or drive.

As was covered in that original thread, multiple sources of statistics including the US Gov't, put fires in ICE vehicles about 14 times more likely than in an EV.

A simple google search will tell you that the source of this video in an anti CCP outfit and funded by Falun Gong, its videos are clickbait.

There are many members here who are buyers of BYD vehicles, myself included, I have yet to hear of ANY being unhappy.

When it comes to EV's @DUNROAMIN you're ignorant.

I think you are in denial my friend, maybe do some serious research on EVs for yourself and find if they are really the 'planet saver' as so many EV nuts preach.

Yes, the risks of owning an EV are so great that EV manufacturers are struggling to survive. CEOs of Toyota, Ford , Mazda etc are rejoicing.

As an “EVangelist”, I’m pro-EV, not anti-ICEV. Some pro-ICEVs however are anti-EV. Maybe it’s time for dictionaries to redefine the meaning of evangelism.

No.

Some (not many) EV owners are nuts, I agree. None on this forum are ‘planet savers’, from what I have read. Money savers, yes. Reduced air and noise pollution, yes. Improved ride comfort, performance, convenience, yes. Pony tailed vegans, no.

Same old samo from EV lovers in denial. Just a small piece of info for you concerning your quote. 'As was covered in that original thread, multiple sources of statistics including the US Gov't, put fires in ICE vehicles about 14 times more likely than in an EV.' Have you check lately how many ICE are on the road right now in the world against EVs. Comparing ICE vehicles burning against EVs burning is just pure nonsense. Hey, you enjoy your BYD, I sleep well at nights owning my ICE vehicle.

I’m an ev atheist. Petroleum is everywhere and I put it in everything I drive and nearly everything is dependent on petroleum including ev’s!

Many would, BYD now sell more EV's than Tesla.

So you’re actually anti-China rather than anti-EV?

Be careful when you travel to Scandinavia, particularly Sweden and Norway. An EV might explode just as you’re walking past, lol.

Do you understand the meaning of per 100k vehicles...

"The study revealed that petrol and diesel vehicles experienced 1,530 fires per 100,000 vehicles, while only 25 out of 100,000 all-electric vehicles caught fire. This means that the fire rate of electric vehicles is only 1/61 compared to cars using gasoline and oil."

Both 100%, thank you. I’ve mandated to not purchase any Chinese products whenever possible, a bit of a learning curve for the wife and now she has a good habit of reading labels and asking questions. Though unfortunately we have no choice.

Sadly, you will need an open mind to watch this video.

That first clip is not an EV. And it is from a movie set. Yet they state as fact that this is an EV exploding as it is being charged. A blatant lie. Credibility of the channel destroyed.

It is an anti Chinese clickbait site. Anything with big red and yellow shouty headlines is clickbait. Shame you just swallow it all up, what a simple life you must lead to get your entertainment from such places.

Someone else already explained your ignorance on this matter and beat me to it.  The statistics are of course per 100,000 vehicles so the number on the road is irrelevant.  This was explained to you in your post last year, perhaps you know better than all these organisations, alternatively, you're just a fool, flat earther too perchance?

I can make my mind up whether you are just ignorant on this subject or if there is something underlying.

Can I suggest you change your handle to DUNTHINKIN ?

Like with many anti-EVers, he clutches desperately at any straw, no matter how ridiculous or inaccurate to try and make his case. I wish more posters would be like @josephbloggs who doesn’t yet own an EV and comes on here looking for firsthand information from EV owners. He is now totally familiar with the pros and cons of an EV, whether it’s suitable for him based on his lifestyle and living circumstances.

I love my Dolphin. But it won’t work for me if it was my only car. That’s why I also have a PHEV which allows me to drive long distances into the back of beyond and not worry about getting stranded or taking too much time. I can understand that if one can only afford one car, the safer bet would be an ICE. But coming on here and stating that EVs are a heap of rubbish is just ignorance.

Correct, it's like the starbucks thread. Nothing to do with the product itself and all about the politics. They need to get trapped into saying the quiet part out loud

Yes I would buy a BYD.

I recently found out that similar irrational sentiments were prevalent in the 70s when the Japanese car manufacturers took over. Japanese cars were said to be no good, yet turned out to be better value, better quality than what the legacy US car makers could produce.

I think something similar is going on here with EVs from China in particular. Fear of the unknown, from a group who by and large are older than average and therefore resistant to change.

'67 Datsun 1600 was the most favoured rally car in Australia for decades.

BYD's have an 8 year warranty on most parts, including body rust and battery.

Nice that they warranty the body rust, how much do they have ?
