Part of Jomtien Beach Road to Become One-Way Starting in Early March During Construction Project

Pattaya —A major part of Jomtien Beach Road will transform temporarily into a one-way street starting in early March of this year to facilitate a landscape improvement project.

The one-way plan was declared yesterday, January 4th, during a meeting of Pattaya City authorities.

Chaired by Deputy Mayor Mr. Kritsana Bunsawat, the authorities resolved to turn Jomtien Beach Road one-way from the Pattaya Police Station’s Khong Dong Tan Office to the Chaiyaphruek Service Center on Jomtien Beach.

The transformation’s purpose is to facilitate an installation of underground pipes, relocation of structures and utilities, and construction of a new drainage system.

" A specific window for how long the project would last was not given by authorities but is expected to take months, although likely finishing before the high season of this year in November "

That lack of certainty is an admission of their own incompetence. I think we can forsee how this will pan out, an unfinished building site next high season.

After "these people" destroyed that nice sandy shady area at North end. With a parking lot that is just about vacant even on weekends.

Well, it took 3 years to complete the new Thepprasit drains, so this 'temporary' one-way system is going to be a fixed part of Jomtien Beach life for a long time.

One way means both ways to Thai's; construction or no construction !

Improvements... wait and see what the finished article looks like.

Sure do and have the Bangkok Post delivered. Any more questions Hoss

So Chaiyapreuk will become completely undrivable going east, and Beach Rd also, going north. And Second Rd going North. In short, avoid Jomtien. Early March to November? Add another 24 months on to that.

Time to initiate Park and Ride scheme I proposed 6 months ago. 50 THB per vehicle includes song taew 10 THB ride down to the beach.

Not yet, but I'm really hoping/fearing this is not the start of a shift of their Pattaya Beach Road business model to Jomtien. I've never noticed drainage being a problem other than in a small section around the Immigration area in the occassional worst of worst prolonged downpours, certainly not that merits what they are about to start doing. Haven't seen a cost mentioned.

I suspect the promenade and Beach Rd need to be dug up and redone 4 or 5 times, just like Pattaya has over the last decade.

Would have been nice to read in what direction the one way would be.

How can all these news article be so uninformitive?  A simple map with direction arrows would have worked well.
