words fail me, really. How does someone like this successfully operate in the real world?

Any word from TAT on how the quality/family tourist initiative is going and whether opening bars till 4am has had the intended effect in terms of attracting those two tourist groups?

I've heard them called both, depending on location

Be arrested; why? Because it was a foreigner, or because of the Tuk Tuk? I see Thai men, esp. taxi drivers urinating at the curb, etc., frequently. No-one demanding to arrest them...

Guess, all the good news: "record tourist numbers", "record economic growth", "increase in tax revenue", etc., were out already, so it was time to report about something disgusting, preferably 'outlandish'...

The dumbing down of the Western world is almost complete.

Quite. I think that famous drawing of the evolution of man from ape to modern day homo sapien is now well and truly in reverse.

Filming a guy taking a pee, a little voyeuristic I think.

Filmed to show bad behaviour, rather than filmed for enjoyment

I am not a farang. When I hear that word, I always ask the speaker in Thai where it is.

Farang is like schmuck. Why call yourself something derogatory?

Francais -> farangset -> farang. Not derogatory.

How surprising that you would get it wrong.

Mang Farang = potato - white.

I don't care where it was derived.  It is now used to describe white people.

Sometime you just gotta pee. What's the alternative? Let your pee drible down your legs and trousers? This can be a major problem for older men with an enlarged prostate.

Yeah. Better to pee on yourself than other people.

Care to provide the etymology? Rice is also white. Why aren't we called rice?

The exact derivation isn’t clear with some experts stating that it is a contraction of the Thai word ‘farangset‘ (French) as the French were present in Siam and Indochina in the 17th Century. Others believe it pre-dates this and derives from ‘faringsi‘ (Persian) when Persian traders were prominent in the region.

We are also not referred to as a left-handed smoke shifter for the same reason.

I provided etymology. It didn't mention potato. Might want to retract your personal attack or step up and provide some etymology

I've lost count of the times I've seen Thais urinating in public and that includes women. Last one was a mother and daughter(?) stall holder outside my local 7/11. They just squatted down and did it next to their stall.

Does she then stick her hands in the bean sprouts to put them in the soup? Tasty.

Send me your address.  I'll send you some ear wax remover.

It’s Man Farang because it is a specific type of potato primarily eaten in Europe originally. I’ve been here 36 years, have never considered the word to be necessarily derogatory and often use it myself when speaking Thai when referring to white foreigners or Westerners in general. What alternative word would you suggest?

As for the guy peeing off the back of a moving Tuktuk, I can think of a few derogatory words to call him, farang not being one of them.

Go away and come back when you have reached maturity.

The usual hypocritical paragons of virtue having never done anything daft or potentially offensive in their lives are out in force again!

Thai xenophobic netizens being more enraged than when a monk is "knocking one out" on a public bus or the BTS !

That's just one reason why I don't buy there. Saved me from many bouts of vomiting and diarrhea...

This is what I call a songthaew!

My Thai wife calls it a tuk tuk

The photo in the Article is also called a songthaew - Seems to depend on where you live.

Might just as well call a spade a spade - or a shovel!

And the nerve to call them any of them "taxis" is laughable!

Provide a link. I did.

I learned Thai at AUA 45 years ago.
