Municipal authorities held a meeting on Monday (Jan 29) to discuss the creation of a new landmark sculpture, “Man Fighting Shark.”

The session was led by Deputy Mayor Ms. Busaba Choksuchat, appointed by the Mayor of Hua Hin, and took place in the Chomsin Room of the Hua Hin Municipality Office.

This gathering marked an important step in the revitalization of a cherished public space.

The proposed sculpture, poised to be situated in front of the Chao Pho-Chao Mae Thapthim Shrine, close to the downtown Hilton Hotel, is anticipated to enhance the visual and cultural appeal of the area.

It will certainly enhance the cultural perception of Thais being completely ignorant and „superior“ people.

In this day and age we should promote sharks, not display a man versus shark depiction.

This essentially encompasses the stupidity of humans, and in this case the ignorance of Thais in general

Here is a ChatGPT’s kinder and more diplomatic response to the situation:

"Thank you for sharing this proposal. It's important for any cultural and tourism initiatives to be considerate of the message they convey. Perhaps a statue that celebrates the coexistence of humans and marine life would better reflect the harmony and respect for nature. This approach could be a positive way to promote awareness and appreciation for the natural world."

There's sharks in the Gulf ?

It's a sculpture, not a documentary.   No different that that Naga everywhere, or the guy hanging on that damn Cross.

If this doesn't scare them out of the surf, nothing will:image.png.616219b7bd5dc4f6e08a536c8d9002da.png

All the times I've been to HH, and didn't realize there was a statue there already :coffee1:
