Court rules Move Forward attempted to topple constitutional monarchy

The Constitutional Court today unanimously ruled that the  Move Forward Party and its former leader Pita Limjaroenrat have attempted to overthrow the constitutional monarchy by campaigning to amend the lese majeste law or Article 112 and ordered them to cease all activities related to it.

 

While the court did not decide whether the reformist party should be disbanded, the ruling is likely to pave the way for subsequent legal efforts to have the party dissolved.

 

The case stemmed from a petition by lawyer Theerayut Suwankesorn in July last year, accusing the party and its then-leader Pita of seeking to overthrow Thailand’s constitutional monarchy.

What you should IMO have posted was "Democracy in Thailand is nothing more than a myth, the sooner the majority of peasants Thais in general realize this the better.

Disband them, they already have a spare party in mind with leaders who are not executives of the present MF board. 

Actions like this will only gain them more sympathy, the 14 million may turn into 2O million at the next election.

Oxford English Dictionary: peasant - "A poor smallholder or agricultural labourer of low social status (chiefly in historical use or with reference to subsistence farming in poorer countries)".

Very sad day for Thailand, and their so called democracy... Laws should have the possibility to be amended.. Updates are needed to keep on in recent times.. Law for death penalty is also out of date and new laws as samesex marriage are being brought in... I am sure Thailand will pay a price for this verdict No TAT can prevent that

seems like a perfectly appropriate way to describe the majority of the population to me.  can't understand why anybody , especially a non Thai would take any offence,

Probably because it is effectively a gagging order, Some things cannot be said, and certain things are therefore probably not widely known,  If that was to change certain public opinions might change too.  Who knows what might happen ?   The powers that be  obviously don't want to  take any chances, possibly fearing that they may become the subject of any possible  collateral damage .

The "permanently offended " community  seem to have taken a  dislike to some valid words in the english language.   Note how they typically  issue instructions  as to what words they personally  think should be used.   The use of a word like "disgusting" is nothing more than a predictable tactic  to  take the moral high ground,and indulge in a bit of virtue signalling,  Whilst at the same time vilifying another poster for making a perfectly appropriate comment.  A relatively  new division  of the  grammar police

I think there's an age aspect to that too: People under about 50 or maybe 60 and not much education use the word 'peasant' as a term of abuse ...
