Opinion: Nobody wants to admit the scale of the Islamist extremist threat to our democracy

Has enough actually been done to tackle the fact that many Islamist fundamentalists with bad intentions live and walk among us?

In the aftermath of Sir David Amess's tragic death at the hands of an Islamist extremist, the specter of religiously motivated violence has cast a long shadow over British politics. As his successor, Anna Firth, reflects on the harrowing events surrounding his murder and the broader implications for democracy, her words resonate with a sense of urgency and concern.

Firth's tenure as a Member of Parliament for Finchley and Golders Green has been marked by both personal and professional challenges, as she grapples with the ever-present threat of extremist violence. Mike Freer's decision to step down due to the relentless targeting by Islamist extremists underscores the severity of the situation, with his office being firebombed and Firth narrowly avoiding a similar fate to her predecessor.

In the face of such brazen acts of terrorism, Firth questions whether enough is being done to address the underlying threat posed by Islamist fundamentalism. She highlights the reluctance to confront this issue head-on, citing fears of being labeled as racist or Islamophobic. This hesitation, she argues, only serves to embolden extremists and undermines efforts to safeguard democracy.

Firth's concerns are compounded by recent events in the House of Commons, where the Leader of the Opposition, Sir Keir Starmer, reportedly pressured the Speaker to allow a vote on a contentious motion related to the conflict in Gaza. This apparent capitulation to external pressure raises troubling questions about the integrity of parliamentary proceedings and the influence of extremist groups on political decision-making.

The scenes outside Parliament on that fateful day serve as a stark reminder of the challenges facing lawmakers like Firth, who must navigate a fraught political landscape while ensuring their own safety and security. The emergence of a vocal and aggressive mob, fueled by a toxic blend of Islamist ideology and far-left activism, threatens to undermine the very foundations of democracy.

As Firth reflects on her experiences both inside and outside of Parliament, she recounts encounters with hostility and intimidation, including a disturbing confrontation at a local mosque and a targeted smear campaign in her constituency. These incidents, she argues, are symptomatic of a broader trend towards intolerance and extremism that must be addressed with urgency and resolve.

Despite the gravity of the situation, Firth remains steadfast in her commitment to upholding democratic principles and resisting efforts to silence dissent. She echoes calls for greater police intervention to combat extremist threats and advocates for a more proactive approach to countering radicalization and hate speech.

In the wake of Sir David Amess's tragic death, Firth's voice serves as a poignant reminder of the challenges facing lawmakers in an increasingly volatile political climate. Her courage and resilience in the face of adversity embody the spirit of democratic values, and her call to action resonates with a sense of urgency that cannot be ignored. As she continues to navigate the complex landscape of British politics, Firth remains steadfast in her commitment to defending democracy and confronting extremism head-on.

As for the poor little MP's feeling threatened by the Islamist protesters, well, you made the bed now you can lie in it. I guess they never expected the threat to be on the doorstep of their leafy Islington streets or Westminster. They thought it was only the common man in the poorer suburbs that would suffer, while they patted each other on the back, quoffed another glass of Champagne and congratulated themselves on creating such a wonderfully diverse society. They're not so brave when they have to face the reality of the consequences of their policies and inaction.

We have allowed radicals to invade our political system in the UK. Look how many

Give their  thoughts on the woke BBC and dominate

Local elections and protest marches.  Something not allowed in their country of origin. The UK is soft on immigration and we are paying the price.

A few years back a British friend showed me videos, sections of London that are now under sharia law. Posters were glued to light posts saying as such. Is this true? Is it still that way or any better/worse?

I forecast that, unless the British people wake up to the gradual muslim takeover, their country will be governed under sharia law within 30-50 years.

Might be wishful thinking, but I'll put a note in my diary to check whether that's the case in Feb. 2054. Unfortunately, no chance of me making it to Feb. 2074, so someone else will have to follow-up then😉

I react with the only appropriate reaction available to me, and you post a confused emoji

that you are censused comes of no surprise to me, but I am curious what  way other than researching an issue  before you developed an opinion and decided  to share it in this forum

would you use

Crystal bowl ? Casting of Bones? Cloud gazing?

I usually google the issue and look for a reputable source. It is not google that gives me the answer it is the reputable source.

But from your avatar I see that you posses some powerful molo  which might be better than my mundane  process , if you could share it I would surely appreciate it.  After all who likes making "idiotic replies" ?

Not me!!

Additionally: Nobody wants to admit the scale of the Christian extremist threat to our democracy - there are many millions of them in the USA.

Personally, I am saddened by the drastic change in London, which was predominantly "white" while I lived there in the early 80's, never really having to worry about crime, even to the extent of not having to lock my front door, to what is today, a crime infested city where many areas, there is not a caucasian to be seen!

By the way, I myself have "brown" skin, but lived most of my life in Canada.

Not sure if you've heard anything about the IVF laws Alabama just put out there - basically they now define a frozen embryo as a person. The reasons for imposing such an atrocity was littered with Christian references. This has now stopped just about ALL doctors performing fertility procedures for fear of being arrested.

The book "1984" and "The Handmaid's Tale" video series were supposed to be fiction. Christian Nationalists have taken them to heart and are making them law. These Christian Nationalists prefer to be called "Nationalist Christians"  - or Nat C's for short.

I know google isn't. They blocked all dissent on climate change. They probably have done the same on religion and immigration. I like google maps though but they goes astray too.

You could use a Russian search engine.

I've found the same thing with Google.

Often I will search for articles that I know exist, but if the article isn't in line with Google's world view it simply doesn't show up on the search. It's still there on the internet, but Google doesn't return it.

I very much suspect they are doing the same with certain articles that show Islam in a poor light, in the name of "stopping hate speech" or one of the other phrases the left disingenuously uses to suppress any views that are not in line with their own. As I said on another thread, it's a case of the left condoning Islamist extremism/intolerance in the name of diversity and inclusion. Deeply ironic.

Google hides any right wing websites and puts all the left wing ones on page 1.

Win/win.

The bible thumpers love it. And the rest of us will be happy that there will be fewer bible thumpers in the future.

"I myself have "brown" skin, but lived most of my life in Canada.

" London, which was predominantly "white" while I lived there in the early 80's, never really having to worry about crime, "

and then you moved there, a trend was started and now there are a bunch of brown skin people  there and the place went to hell in a handbasket.

But Not because of you  'cause you " lived most of my life in Canada." which as everyone knows has a way of softening the brown.

I have a possible solution to the problem .Perhaps if we could send some of these brown people to Canada camp Eh ? :cheesy:

Diary of a Saxon, chapter 1.

"Saddened that the influx of the French is changing our society. Our land was so perfect but they come here and change our language, change our culture with their Norman ways. Before long we will be French like them."

The stupid part is thinking that people are just going to say "oh, ok, we'll be Muslims now" and live by a whole new (well, old actually) set of rules, and so on.

Don't you think there would be a fight, resistance, etc?  Just try going to the US and saying "no more bacon."  But get burial insurance first.
