The prospect of a second Trump presidency has everyone with any intelligence on edge.

Look dude the vast majority of democrats want to put up someone other than Biden mostly because of the optics of his age, but he's made his decision, and when push comes to shove there is that binary choice and he will probably win against trump the traitor, but there are so many variables in what could happen between now and election day that it's ridiculous to be overconfident either way.

This might be a silly question, but why is it his decision in a functioning democracy?  If the vast majority of democrats want an alternative candidate then why can they not have one?

Your link featured quotes from Turnbull, who trashes Trump but was an even more unpopular leader than him.

Can you see how stupid that is?

No, but I can see how the Trump ideology of idiocrasy can lead some to respond illogically.

Seems, there might be a couple of logical fallacies in your post:

Ad Hominem Fallacy: This is when an argument is directed against a person rather than the position they are maintaining. In this case, you’re attacking Turnbull’s popularity rather than addressing the content of his statements about Trump.

False Equivalence Fallacy: This is when someone incorrectly asserts that two or more things are equivalent, simply because they share some characteristics. You seem to imply that because Turnbull was unpopular, his criticisms of Trump are invalid or less credible.

However, the popularity of a leader does not necessarily correlate with the validity of their observations or arguments.

While it’s true that Turnbull had his own challenges during his term as PM, his honest comments about Trump are based on his personal experiences and observations. These should be evaluated on their own merits, rather than dismissed based on his popularity.

Not a silly question.

There is a democratic party primary happening. Biden is winning that overwhelmingly. There is not even one democratic of substance opposing him. They are free to do so but haven't.  Why? Well there is a usual custom with both parties that an incumbent president who.has been reasonably successful is usually nominated easily for the second term. It may seem a paradox but the vast majority of democratic think Biden has been successful and that his policy positions match with theirs AND that the optics of his age are terrible. If he had not run again it would have been a wild open primary. But he did.

So, everyone on the left is out...

IIRC, most of us on the left are financially literate, which is more than can be said about you.

What 17 of Trump’s ‘Best People’ Said About Him

Mark Milley. Joints Chief of Staff

Sept. 29, 2023

We don’t take an oath to a country. We don’t take an oath to a tribe. We don’t take an oath to a religion. We don’t take an oath to a king or a queen, or to a tyrant or a dictator. And we don’t take an oath to a wannabe dictator.”

Rex Tillerson. Secretary of State

July 20, 2017

Moron,” Mr. Tillerson reportedly said of Mr. Trump.

It's a given no one will share intelligence with America if Trump gets back in. Not Australia, UK, Europe, Israel, Mexico - no one.

Everybody knows Trump at best is totally careless with national secrets, putting human assets and contingency planning at risk. At worst, he could be selling them out to the highest bidder, another income stream to pay for his legal fees.

No sensible person would trust Trump. He does trust what Putin tells him. The idiots that do are blissfully unaware he will throw them under the bus anytime it suits his book.

Shame Trump didn't pardon Assange.

Amazing as he pardoned plenty of other criminals and friends.

He was too busy pardoning his fellow criminals. Most of the Trump pardons, issued very late in his Presidency, were to people who were connected to him in some way.

More like the US is in trouble because it elects IMO useless people to POTUS.

Agreed. But Biden is light years better than Trump. Look at my previous link. Most who worked for him didn't like him. These are people he hired! :cheesy:
