There are millions of lights on every night in Thailand. Bit of a competition between provinces as to who can use the most lights to look the most beautiful.

Chadchart Sittipunt said the World Wide Fund for Nature campaign has set March 23 as the day people worldwide turn off their lights to help reduce the impacts of climate change.

That's rich coming from the Governor of smog city

The Bangkok governor has urged the Thai public to join the “Earth Hour” campaign by switching off lights for one hour tomorrow.

And instead lighting a bonfire by which to see.

At 8.30PM our lights, A/C, TV etc. will be running on stored solar energy.

It's actually a pain to turn the lights off, each has a separate remote control and none of the remotes have batteries. I think they'll stay on

I know that someone will turn off the car lights... Believe me, someone will do it.. 🤔

Night light in kitchen will be on, along with 65" TV, laptops, AC, air purifier, frigs, outdoor lights (independent solar).  Off grid of course, and why would I do anything different, because people who can't run the country, planet efficiently suggest otherwise.

If they weren't such idiots to begin with, there wouldn't be an imaginary energy, ecological problem.  Just another reason for another carbon tax:

What's new about an hour of darkness.

There are power outages enough, already, here, one might opine.

At which times most people light candles , which is what most people would do if they turn their lights off.

Candles produce 10x the pollution a lightbulb produces.

But the optics of turning of the lights would be good (Pun intended)

It is a symbolic act that  at least raises awareness,

Haha, like this is going to make any difference. Probably after the lights come back on there is a surge of electric demand to make up for the hours it was switched off.

The only thing that improves earth is less human births to consume and pollute.

They either have to have spinning reserve or fire up some more generation quickly.......not much stored energy in the network I expect.
