An American man in Phuket, known as Mr. Ali, has been arrested on suspicion of theft and potential assault of a local woman.

 

The 36 year old was taken into custody on May 3rd, around 11am in a department store parking lot in Wichit, following the investigation of a complaint filed with the Chalong Police. 

 

The report alleges that Mr. Ali, who entered Thailand as a tourist with a 30-day visa exemption in February, had committed a theft after dark on April 24th in Chalong and may have assaulted a Thai woman in the process. 

 

He has since been moved to Chalong Police Station where he faces charges relating to night time theft. However, no direct mention of the reported assault was given by the authorities.

 

As of now, it is unclear whether Mr. Ali has obtained legal representation or issued any public comment on the allegations.

Please, Thailand, if this guy is, in fact, an American please keep him in jail here. We have too many of his kind in the

USA today .
