I often wonder how the police identify suspects via cctv.

CCTV doesn’t show the names of people depicted, so is it that the police have prior knowledge of the individuals and recognize them when they see them on cctv, or do they wander the streets after the incident and look at peoples faces until they recognize them?

Simple. The police just bring the footage and show local people in the brawl area to identify these trouble makers as they surely frequent these areas in ungodly hours.

Five Thai men, with knives.

Part of the culture.

Including the numerous 'wai's', and Kaw Thots, hopefully after the beating and the stabbing. Also part of the culture.

To indicate their respect and politeness.

Also part of the culture...

what normal tourist/expat is out in a well known nightspot area at 4.40am

Sex-tourism is regarded as 'normal' there. 🤷🏼‍♂️

5 arrested ... only one may eventually be the main fall guy .. the guy who actually stuck him and he is unlikely to confess. The rest of the gang will probably walk.

In the video the Thai in the white cap grabs a knife from a table, so that's somewhere to start.

An alcoholic looking for trouble perhaps.

and in your considered opinion, that is the reason and justification for this attack?

Well done the police.... a little credit where its due.

A month each in the monastery for the attackers, two months for the guy with the knife, and that should do it, back to normal.

I agree.

Even though you would never catch me at a hell hole like bangala road anytime of the day, let alone at 4am, this guy did not deserve to be stabbed just because he was there.

That is an absurd thing to suggest.

bob.

Nobody deserves to be stabbed.

However, you can do a lot to avoid being assaulted: don't enter dangerous areas late night till early morning.

And don't get into brawls with Thai men.

Don't act like an idiot.

I know you'll fight 5 Thai men at 4.40 am, because you feel invincible. Big Yawn. 🥱. Superman😴

As others have said, in that area at 4.40 in the morning there is a lot of potential for trouble, mainly down to alcoholic excess.

Unlikely to confess? I am always surprised at the easy confessions here for crimes committed.

Why are you surprised? The Thai justice system is built for confessions as a confession offer 50% off the time in jail. If other countries made the same offer, you would see it there too.

5 thai men?

not a chance.

1 cocky thai man on his own with nobody around to see it?

I would gladly smash the living daylights out of him.

bob.

But, he will have a knife or a gun in his pocket, and the other four waiting around the corner. 😉

Now I'm curious:

#I would gladly smash the living daylights out of him.#

How you would do it at 4.40, assuming you are drunk. And the described ONE Thai man would appear in blurred view as 5.

Which one you would smash first? 😂😂😂
