Chonburi — Police officers from the Laem Chabang Police Station have apprehended three Thai men who impersonated police officers to rob local residents in Chonburi province.

According to a press conference held at the Laem Chabang Police Station on June 11th, the arrest came after a complaint was filed by Mr. Thanaphat Butwanich, 31, who reported being robbed by the suspects on June 9th at a local convenience store in Sri Racha district, Chonburi.

The suspects, dressed in bulletproof vests, brown trousers, and black caps like those of police officers, reportedly forced Mr. Thanaphat into their car and tried to force him into buying illegal drugs from them. However, Mr. Thanaphat refused to do so, causing the suspects to assault him, steal his wallet containing 8,000 baht, and take his motorcycle.

That's a new one dressing up as police and forcing people to buy drugs from them? if you wanna force someone

to buy drugs from you, can't you do it without police uniforms? or this is a new way of robbing people?...

Getting harder distinguish the crooks from the decent folks, or will the wearing of a police uniform do it for us?

If there's one thing worse than being extorted by a genuine Thai copper, it's being extorted by a fake copper. :coffee1:

Yeah, impersonating or not is of no substance to the matter. 😂

They might fire several shots at your feet if you try that on, as the other day.

I suspect so, since the fake one's uniforms are there on display. They would be stood in their tighty whities!

Strikes me that living in an area where there are loads of falang is much riskier than living "in the sticks". I'm not saying that the latter is risk-free, but certainly less risky. For me the Bangkok's and Pattayas of this world are places to visit, not to live.

Each to his own. You are welcome to express your contraray views that the rewards exceed the risks.
