Firstly there's a substantive difference between a 'bull's eye' and 'crosshairs'. If Trump had suggested 'crosshairs' then there's only one connotation you can take from that and he would have been rightly condemned for it. He didn't but you are still trying to justify your stance by doing exactly what you are accusing others of doing i.e. saying people would be blaming Trump when you are actually blaming Biden by inferring his statement of 'It’s time to put Trump in a bull’s-eye' led to the shooting. No sane person would think this.

You've even got the quote wrong. It was 'It’s time to put Trump in a bull’s-eye' not 'the'.

Take that up with CNN.  It's their quote.  Though, in fairness, Biden mumbles so much I can see where they got it wrong.  And it's easy to imagine they didn't match up with the official WH transcript.  They make up Biden's words all the time.  What they wish he said as opposed to what he really said.

I hear your sentiment - but your 'answer' is 100% wrong. Many reasons but number one is that making a law and enforcing that law, does not stop people doing it - drugs, murder, rape, etc.  Chicago has a lot of shootings and killings every week - 100+ last weekend - but hand guns are outlawed there.   The problem is mentally unstable people being allowed to stay in a society where guns are very prevalent.
