This morning, a 30-year-old man tragically drowned after suffering an epileptic seizure during an intimate moment by a moat in Nakhon Ratchasima.

 

Authorities were alerted to the situation at 12:40 a.m. and rushed to Kamhaeng Songkhram Road, near the Court of Appeals, Region 3. Despite the water being only knee-deep, efforts to revive the man were unsuccessful. Rescue workers and divers retrieved his body, dressed in a white T-shirt and black jeans, within five minutes from the bank of the moat.

 

Mr. B, a 28-year-old ladyboy from Muang Nakhon Ratchasima District, revealed that the two met earlier that evening at a Thai-style pavilion near the Thao Suranaree (Ya Mo) monument. They struck up a friendly conversation and decided to move to the quieter area near the moat.

 

As they conversed, the man suddenly experienced a seizure. Mr. B initially thought he was joking, but his condition quickly worsened. The man, who had previously mentioned his chronic illness, rolled into the canal. Realising the severity of the situation, Mr. B immediately sought help from authorities. However, despite their swift response, it was too late, and the man drowned.

 

The Sawang Metta Thammasathan Rescue Unit transported the body to Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital's Forensic Medicine Institute for an autopsy to confirm the exact cause of death.

 

This tragic incident underscores the dangers faced by those with chronic illnesses and highlights the importance of having a medical alert device, especially in vulnerable moments. Our thoughts go out to the victim’s family and friends during this difficult time.

IF they were both wearing life-vests, for knee deep water, that would be quite strange!

He went and got help, I thinks something fishy here.  The divers took a while to get gear on before entering the knee deep water.

Yeah.  Literally the guy was just unconscious in shallow water.  Only needed to hop in and lift his head out of the water.

 

A very sad way to go, and easily preventable.
