Sounds like an old package. back when it was a 10Mbps product. It's been a while since it was 1490/1590 baht. For new customers it's 2200 baht and you get 50GB compared to your at least 100GB. Nor any call package.

Well thats what they gave me in Jan 2024 and when I go back in Jan 2025 they will give me whatever they have. It may be an old package, but its a good one.

You did mention it was the full speed, but limited data volume version. Must have slipped my mind by the time I began my earlier reply.

New customers aren't going to get that, but you should get the opportunity to renew at around the same price next year,

Never needed the Net at home, just bought some extra as needed. Fast enough for movies and sports

It is not the phone credit that keeps the card valid, it is the expiry date and it is not necessary to top up every month, unless the validity expires at the end of that month.  Top up with B20, twelve times, and you won't have to top up again for twelve months.  Easy, eh?

The expiry date on my Bht 173 says 23rd August, last month it said 23rd July until I topped up Bht 20.

No good doing 12 x 20, I will never use that much on phone calls.

Same with True prepaid as soon as it's topped up.  They just love to scam money from farangs.

Is it not the same rules for Thai people?

For 20 Bht you get 1 month. But the 20 Bht is credited to your account. Thats how I keep the SIM alive when I am away from TH and use the credit when I come. You lose nothing.

So when you are away, must you top-up 20 every month?

But you are doing it anyway... use your brain 😊 In twelve months time, you would have done 12 x 20 baht 😊 Doing it in advance, saves you from having to remember to do it every month. I already suggested the 10 baht option and you don't have to do the max. You can do say, three months at a time. As to using the credit, you can use it on a data package when your other data SIM expires.

They can top up for up to a year in advance. Why would he need to do it every month? That's just something that you do. Stop being mean and get it done if you want to keep the number. If you cannot be bothered with it, lose the number or port it to DTAC or Truemove H, where they have a different system for extending validity.

This is how it works, take it or leave it.

what I do is before it expires, I top-up 20Bht x 12 times via my bank app.  After 12 months is reached, all other top-up will be just credited to your account, without any months getting added.

Once I forgot to do any transactions on my bank account (I forget the period) and they sent a letter saying it will be made a dormant account - I immediately deposited some money and prevented that situation.

This way, the SIM and the bank see some activity from my side and keeps them 'alive'.

True has, or at least used to have, codes that would extend your sim validity for months for just a few baht. The limit was 18 months IIRC. I'm sure ais has something similar. I use a 12 month unlimited data 30 mbps card lately so this info is a few years old.

So top up on the monthly basis that you prefer!  What is your complaint?...it costs you exactly the same, i.e. in 12 months you will have loaded the same B240 and the SIM card will have the same validity.

It's 12 months and they still do. Both DTAC and Truemove H. AIS does not and did not ever. You need to work on your powers of recall. Half of it you just made up 😊

By going to the App, I found that I must Top Up every month, only Bht 20 to keep the number valid, even if you have a few hundred Baht already in it. Crazy eh?

Same for me.....

Go to AIS and have them check, I had a problem with that and it turned out I had inadvertently approved a 4 baht a day leech on my account. Once I showed it to AIS, they deleted it and the problem was resolved, Of course the money I had lost was never refunded but TIT so I didn't expect otherwise

No need to go anywhere...they have a call centre that can check for that.

While that is accurate.

Owing to my lack of Thai and their lack of English, It took a little bit to get across to the staff there, what the problem was. Being able to hand them the phone and show them was a lot easier. Trying to deal with them over the phone would have been an exercise in futility. The 3 mins I had to wait for my ticket number to be called was well worth the lack of aggravation I would have otherwise suffered trying to explain the problem over the phone.

I boggles my mind that so many people actively seek to cause them selves problems that are easily avoided just to save a few baht or a few mins.

They speak English if you choose the English Language option when you call the call centre. Just ask them to look at your account and to tell you why the credit is disappearing. Not difficult. No need to visit unless you feel like getting out and about.

It boggles my mind that people make up a lot of stuff that didn't really happen just to justify their action of going all the way to a service centre for something that could have been done by just calling. It didn't take you just a few minutes to get to the service centre and it was you complaining about losing a few baht. 😊

Service centre is for when you need to do something physical, like buying or swapping a SIM or getting a cash refund.. Call centre staff can deal with anything to do with your account, including the refund of credit to your mobile account.

Who said anything about service center and what call center do you use in Thailand that you can count on to always speak high quality English? It was an AIS counter in the local Big C I was already at Big C to do some shopping, So yes it did take only a few mins. Especially since I walk by the AIS store at least twice a week when I am in BIG C.  What stuff was made up? While I have not called the AIS call center. I have tried to use a few call centers here, Pressed 9 for English and got someone who's command of English was far from adequate.  Were you there when I asked them to take a look and explain why AIS was taking this money from my account. And I am glad  you are intimate with my financial status and are able to determine that 4 baht a day doesn't hurt me financially  Yes 4 baht a day is not a lot, multiply it by the amount of time it took to be noticed and it adds up.

You wrote that it would be an exercise in futility. You don't know that since you haven't ever called the AIS call centre. So you made that up.

I've called them loads of times, for things for more involved than missing credit. That's actual experience. Something that actually happened.

It's not a big deal. Just letting you know that they can be more competent than you imagine and have also paid out compensation on top of refunds. Would not and could not ever happen at a shop in Big C.

I only mentioned the baht

due to you writing that. It's quite right that you you would not want your credit to disappear unwittingly.

My point is only to say that you don't often need to actually go anywhere to get most problems solved.

12*20 will get you 1 year. You don't have to wait for the month to expire, can simply do 12 the same in 1 (or 12) moments.

It's a standard AIS SIM card that you can top up with money, but all the money disappears very quickly without making calls or sending SMS. I don't think it's the internet (mobile data) since the icon is inactive.

Is there any way to find out what the money is being spent on?

Please! Are you a grown up? Is there any way to find out? Hell Yes! Call AIS! How stupid is it allowed to be?

To be very honest, it is not stupidity.

Some people are not familiar with certain things. e.g. computers, mobile phones and the involved data/voice/sms  packages etc.

After over 3 decades in the IT field and observing 100's of users, I realised this. But those people are experts in their own fields, of which I knew nothing about.

So... stupidity is not in the equation.

You do not need to know IT, computers or phones nor modern technology to call the provider of a service for questions related to them. We did that, already, when we only had phones connected to the wall. So Yes! To be honest, it´s very stupid.
