Pattaya City Police responded to an assault outside a convenience store on Pattaya Beach Road in Bang Lamung, The victim, Mr. Anngad Chandhok, a 38-year-old Indian national, sustained injuries, including a fractured leg and a lacerated lip. Emergency services administered first aid before transporting him to the hospital. The assailant reportedly fled the scene before authorities arrived.

According to store employees, the conflict began when Mr. Chandhok allegedly raised his voice, claiming he had not received all the items he purchased. Despite assurances from the staff that his order was complete, an argument ensued. One employee reportedly pushed Mr. Chandhok outside, where an unidentified man then allegedly struck him, causing him to fall and sustain further injuries.

Witnesses at the scene expressed concern over the incident’s severity. One anonymous local resident reported that store employees had called in someone from outside to assist, leading to a confrontation at the entrance. Another witness mentioned that the employee’s aggressive language escalated the situation, and the outside man’s assault caused Mr. Chandhok to fall down the store’s steps, breaking his leg.

Police have launched an investigation under the direction of Pol. Lt. Col. Alice Puangsai, Deputy Inspector of Pattaya City Police, and are reviewing CCTV footage. Although the store’s management has yet to release surveillance footage, authorities are gathering evidence to identify the attacker.

Pattaya Police affirmed they are prioritising the case, especially with the upcoming Loy Krathong and International Fireworks festivals, aiming to restore tourists’ confidence in the city’s safety standards.

Throw the book at the lot of 'em. The tourist was argumentative and the store clerks were overly aggressive.

There is a slight possibility that some item was scanned but not put into the bag, I once thought that had happened to me, but of course I also thought my own absent mindedness could be to blame.

Indians can be very argumentative and I can see that getting the  workers in the shop irritated too.... throw in language confusion!

Fight 1 Thai....fight them all.

😆 lol

I am so tired of the Indians arguing at 7/11.  They are annoying and rude and I can understand why the locals attack them.

Stop disrespecting those hard working folks at 7/11.  Please.  This is not India where you can haggle all day long.

They have no clue about are the only tourists that I have seen creating problems for the workers.  The Russians are the best tourists in 7/11.  They go in, load up, pay and leave.  Indians, most of them always question the price or have some issue.

The one from outside must be the motorbike taxi man.

They are the unofficial officers of the unofficial Homeland Security Department.

A couple of times check girls have added an item or two for themselves and hoped I didn't notice. For self amusement I like to total the items in my head prior to check out, sometimes put exact amount on counter which dumbfounds them.... So when I point out the "extras" for staff I get a "tee hee" and lame apology.

I have lived in Thailand for 19 years, been to Pattaya many times although always back in hotel about 11pm. Never had a problem with anyone, though I don't drink or frequent bars.
