A foreign driver managed to flee following a hit-and-run in the On Nut area of Bangkok and a high-speed chase with Thai motorcycle taxi riders.

An app-based motorcycle taxi rider shared a video of the incident on his TikTok account, tukgii3, on Monday, 2 December, with the caption: “On Nut is very thrilling. #HitAndRun #OutsideBigCOnNut.”

The video showed a red Honda sedan with front damage parked in the middle of the road. A group of motorcycle taxi riders and other motorcyclists were seen gathered around the vehicle. They attempted to open the car door and urged the driver to step out.

The sedan’s driver, reportedly a foreign man, refused to get out and attempted to escape the scene. Some taxi riders repeatedly hit the car, while others shouted at the driver in Thai, demanding he exit the vehicle.

The video ended before the situation was resolved because the app-based rider had to deliver his passenger to their destination. The rider later explained that he did not know how the situation concluded but confirmed that the foreigner committed a hit-and-run.

According to a report on Channel 8, the foreign man successfully escaped the scene. The vehicle’s registration number was visible in the video, making it potentially easy to trace him if police investigate the case.

The incident reportedly took place near the Phra Khanong Police Station but no officers were present in the video at the time.

In the comment section, the app-based rider assured netizens that no one was injured in the hit-and-run. However, it remains unclear whether the victim pursued legal action against the foreigner.

Right, he should have got out and accepted the beating from the mob - this is why almost nobody ever stops at the scene if there's a crowd of angry onlookers - regardless of whos fault it was.

In this case there was an angry mob only because he didn't stop, not because there had been a collision!   If he had stopped there wouldn't have been an angry mob, as is the case in most collisions.

It also remains unclear as to whether the foreigner was to blame for the collision.  🙄

He is the foreigner of course he will be blamed The other party won't have any insurance or tax for driving on the road anyway so of course the foreigner will have insurance and he will be blamed. And yes he could have hit the person and drove straight to the nearest police station and it wouldn't be called a hit-and-run. Taxi drivers are acting totally out of order.

Looked like he had no choice but to run. In the same circumstance id do the same in that country

Surrounded by a mob of taxi riders with their actions well known, I can understand why he didn't want to exit the car...

but he should have sat there and not got away, just waited for the authorities to arrive.

Pounding on the car trying to get in would have made them cannon fodder in my book, I'd be leaving the scene too, probably head to a police station though. But if I am being threatened, I'll run over everyone in town on my way out of harms way, I have no problem whatsoever using my 4000lb weapon.

If you call any insurance company they would tell you stay in the car and move your car away so it's not blocking the road and get away from the danger and wait for the police.

And the insurance company are the mandatory insurance company would hand them over a couple of thousand dollars for each death.
