Which DATA only SIM are you using

Featured Replies

I’ve been using 2 SIMs for about 7 years now. Regular post paid True for calling no data and a separate annual True data only unlimited 15mbps at cost of give or take 1800 baht. I’m up for renewal and can’t find the same one under 2600.AIS are similarly priced. If you’ve bought this kind of SIM recently, where did you buy, what price, which network?

my other option is to buy a package on my post paid SIM, but cost is slightly higher.

I have a couple of NT Thunder SIMs in use for data but my understanding is these have been discontinued and are no longer available.  There may still be some remaing stock of 1 month and 3 month versions.  They were 900 THB unlimited for a year but were meant for fixed point internet rather than in a phone which suited me.

In my phone I have an AIS prepaid monthyl deal with limited speed and volume for 200 THB which is enough for my usage.

True's THOR SIM is the best recent offering I've seen mentioned on here at 2,899 THB for unlimited 15Mbps which makes your 2,600 THB sound good.

I don't understand why people quibble over these prices. We are talking about US$85/£68 per annum. US$7 per month for unlimited data at up to 15Mbps.

I didn't mean to infer they had found the THOR SIM at that price but any unlimited at 2,600 THB.  As you say the AIS one may be a 100GB version if not a grandfathered package (if such exists).

I think it's the percentage rise rather than the actual figure which makes users highlight it.  It appears to be large and sudden if you've not been keeping an eye on things over the year since your last purchase.

or go for a limited data volume option from 1600 baht. According to what you can afford.

They referred to "the same one". They didn't find it at 2600, nor AIS. It IS the 100GB version, as AIS don't sell another.

I use it for streaming tv so data needs to be unlimited and spread a minimum of 8-10 I think

Now you know it's 2899 or you can consider GoMo/AIS, if AIS have a good signal at your place and you have a Thai partner to register it.

AIS have worked well for me for the past several years. I pay 399 a month for unlimited data and 200 minutes. I really don’t need that many minutes since I retired, but they have been easy to deal with and rarely have had an interruption in service. If I want to pinch pennies I’m sure I could find a different plan.

20Mbs/100GB per month. Dtac B2090 post included. Shopee. Expires 30/11/2568

We have our fiber internet with True and it includes a sim card for data, 10 GB per month. You can use it for phone calls but then need to pay extra. We pay THB 640,93 for the internet (500 Mbps up and down). I always use this card in my phone, since my phone card only has 1,5 GB.

My second SIM is from OneCardSim, which has a USA phone number. When someone calls that number, it records whatever they want to say and then alerts me there is a message. If that number is sent a text message (like a security code from my US bank), it forwards that message to my Thai phone number.

For data (only) I use AIS, they have a "5G max unlimited" SIM for around 1,200 baht per month; it of course also works with 3G and 4G...

After True and DTAC merged, they immediately increased the prices.

Struggling to know what a DIM is as said in the headline. The only thing which is DIM, is someone who posts a thread without reading what they have typed before submitting.

I have an AIS prepaid SIM for calls topped up monthly with Bht 20. Enough for me.

Then SIM 2 is a DTAC annual SIM @ 6Mb/s, 60 GB per month, plenty for me. Cost me Bht 2300, less than Bht 200 per month. Works perfectly. It can also be used for phone calls if I want to use that old technology.

However, I have just been told by my Internet provider 3BB, that I can get a data SIM INCLUDED in my Bht 749 1000/500 subscription.

Sounds good to me.

I started buying the Thor True unlimited sims 15mbps in 2020 always from Lazada  , so i am now on my 5th one.

They were alwzys 1,795 baht but last month when mi e was expiring   i saw the pirice had gone right up this year.

Anyway   i kept searching and in the end managed to find a True Thor Unlimited data at 15 mbps with 30 minutes worth of free calls  every month to any network fir 2,129. There was a free voucher for 287.88 from seller which reduced the price

Its definitely unlimited and not the maximum 100 GB version   i think i was just lucky, so i grabed it quickly.

My data sim is DTAC 15Mbps 100Gb per month. Unlimited free calls to DTAC numbers and 60mins free calls per month to other networks. Cost me 1790 baht in July, now it's gone up to 1990 baht.

It's 60 minutes of calls to any network.

What's the current price from the same vendor?

And I am struggling to work out how someone can use the word DIM instead of SIM, and post it before reading it themselves.

Ah, nice to see The Mods edited it. Cheers.

I didn’t, the mods did. I bet you’ve never once missed a typo , you’re obviously way too savvy for that.

I never miss a typo, spelling mistake or bad grammar, not only here on AN, but in newspapers, TV ads, subtitles.

I know some may think it is sad, but I was taught proper English.

If I do not correct the perpetrator, they will never learn. I even email the BBC & SKY News for their misdemeanours.

I still get AIS unlimited data 10mbps for 150 baht a month, they seem to keep renewing it every 6 months

They are both common terms.  SIM and DIM  in phones and DIM/DIMM in computers.  Very easy to miss especially if you use a spellchecker.

PS; Not that I am condoning the misuse of technical terms or spelling mistakes!

PS; if they were eating Chinese food at the time it would be a very good excuse IMO!

Earlier this year my AIS and DTAC 1 year data sims sent me renewal sms offering to renew the same deals just topup xxxx each account working well.

SIM and DIM,  maybe S and D next to each other on the keyboard may have something to do with it. Just a thought.

Do you have the name of the seller by any chance? Or a link to it?
