Movie. The man from earth.

No special effects. No big budget. A handful of people in a house setting.

Great script and very though provoking.

Yes, there's also a sequel which was released in 2017 with little publicity so I wouldn't be surprised if hardly anyone knows it exists. I watched it a few years back.

The sequels title : "The Man From Earth : Holocene"

I'm about to begin watching Pluribus which seemed to hit the net yesterday.

It's got 9.1 on IMDB so far, early days but 2k votes!

Just started episode 1. Cool premise.

And by comparison with the original, it sucked. That's why nobody knows about it.

No doubt both mentioned earlier in the year on this thread (but I'm a latecomer) but I'm currently watching:-

Kin - BBC iPlayer. Dublin based drug dealing crime family. Just started series 2 last night. I wasn't sure after episode 1 of Series 1 - almost gave up but very glad I stuck with it. Series 2 looks like it's going to be even better.

Tulsa King. Wasn't even going to consider it when I saw that Sly Stallone was in the leading role. So glad I did though! I think he is excellent in it with a good spectrum of supporting cast. Just finishing off Series 1 and will definitely watch 2 and 3. Watching it on Amazon Prime (free 30 day trial - signed up then immediately cancelled but you keep the free trial).

Both via Amazon Firestick. One thing I have noticed is that I have to turn my VPN OFF to watch Prime otherwise it says 'program currently unavailable'. Obviously have to have it ON for the BBC iPlayer.

This is a favourite of mine and I agree with your comments, and some!

My expectaion was let down.

Started watching "The Iris Affair".  Excellent so far, after 2 episodes.

About the movie Good Fortune.

I understand that sentiment but found it a mildly enjoyable watch.

I'm a fan of the star Aziz Ansari and the subject matter about American class differences, severe crisis of affordability, and gig economy, is very current though this was a rather failed attempt at comedy it was not a political message movie per se.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before but looks good.

Death by Lightning ( 2025 , 4 part mini series )

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt31121364/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk

Death by Lightning dramatizes the stranger-than-fiction true story of 20th U.S. President James Garfield, and admirer Charles Guiteau, who assassinated him.

Just watched 1st 2 episodes of Robin Hood - enjoyable romp with Sean Bean as the Sheriff of Nottingham.  Waiting for E3.

Frankenstein - it is the quintessential tragedy.  Very well done.

The Lowdown ( 2025 ) series

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt31289994/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk

“ A determined bookstore owner in Tulsa moonlights as an investigative journalist, digging into local corruption. When his reporting uncovers sinister connections, he must protect both his family and the truth. “

Ethan Hawke stars in this, looks like could be good/great/okay/terrible …… you decide.

Vince Gilligan (breaking Bad writer) is back with a news series called Pluribus  scores 9/10 IMB.  It's on EZTV

That will be worth a watch.  He brought back Better Call Saul's Rhea Seehorn.  This could be fun.

I'm currently doing a two season rewatch of Stargate Universe.  Good show.  I'll put Pluribus in the queue with Season 4 of Mayor of Kingstown and Welcome To Derry.

Just watched on consecutive nights the Jack Irish movies starring Guy Pearce. Found everyone of them really enjoyable. In order:-

Jack Irish Bad Debts

Jack Irish Black Tide

Jack Irish Dead Points

He was originally a criminal lawyer but after a run of bad luck becomes a slightly shady private investigator. Quite an entertaining side line in each movie in addition to the main plot. The aside is him and his close mates trying to operate horse racing coups against the on track bookies.

Watched them all on C4 streaming. There are also 3 or 4 subsequent TV series. Not sure whether they are also on C4 or just on Netflix. Either way I will check them out in due course based on the movies.

Watched (again) a movie I found on BBC iPlayer, called "The Mercy" starring Colin Firth and Rachel Weisz, about the attempt by amateur sailor Donald Crowhurst to sail around the world and I enjoyed it yet again. Well worth a watch for those who haven't seen it.

It would be helpful if you could amplify....why might it 'not be for everyone"??

Excellent mini-documentary on Sergio Leone's Westerns.

Maybe because it's Sci-Fi and not everybody likes Sci-Fi.
