Get a grip……..it’s pool in a girly bar…...…not the world championships…..it’s people like you that spoil things for everyone else…..

Pool tables in bars in Thailand have very specific stringently applied rules. The level of play is also quite high in some venues

5555….not in the ones we go to…..the rules vary during the game depending how drunk people are.

The Swiss guy was the one attacked with a weapon by a cowardly drunk Thai.

Also, Swissman David was acquitted of kicking the Thai doctor. 😁

It's nice having a pool table at home. Don't have to be around cheating brits.

The other side of that coin is that cheating Brits don't have to be around a complete prick.

What a stupid response from you stay of the booze.

Perhaps he might consider giving up pool and start an elephant sanctuary!

Simply that you should have used 'lose', rather than 'loose'.

It was meant to be humorous. A bit of sarcasm directed toward a certain UK poster.

I didn't make the original sarcastic comment, simply answered your subsequent question that had 3 question marks. I thought you might be seeking an answer.

He had fouled, moved a ball with his wrist as he played his shot. The foul was blindingly obvious to everyone watching.

Wife picked up the cue ball to play the penalty and he screams……'FOUL, FOUL, FOUL'…..claimed my wife didn’t declare his foul, so in picking up the cue ball she fouled.

What a total ………..

One problem is that people use different rules. And many don't know any rules. And in some places, some small issues wouldn't be an issue, and it other places everybody know that is a foul.

And then there is obviously the gambling for money problem. If one loses just a game that is not as bad as loosing (lots of) money.

Very true….Pattaya penalty rules in many bars are totally different to BKK bars.

What annoys me is these are just games for fun in a bar, we’re not even in a pool room.

One guy had a fit because we weren’t ‘calling’ every shot…..which I know is the rule…..but no one in a girly bar does that.

One rule playing with Thais that is foreign is - if you scratch the cue ball they are able to play the cue ball anywhere on the table. Seems strange to me.

Calling the 8 ball is common but the rest isn't common unless you're planning a super complicated strike,

Me, I'm not a fan of slop shots counting.

If two decent players play together 9 out of 10 shots don't have to be called because they are obvious.

But as you say, there is a difference between playing in a pool hall and a table in a girly bar.

It's called international rules - and ball in hand is one of those rules since decades.

So if the cue ball is scratched, the other player is allowed to play the cue ball anywhere on the table is an international rule?

Just read that the colored ball in pocket after a scratch gets put back on the table as well. Live and learn

They’re the only ones I ever pot!!!!

Yes but only gets one shot.

In Pattaya (where we played for sometime) you get two shots, but have to play forward out of baulk and can’t hit a ball in baulk.

When I started playing pool maybe 20 years ago about the first thing I did was learn the rules. They are easy to find on the internet and not sooooo difficult to learn.

I was surprised that many people didn't know the rules at all, and some knew some rules but not some important details.

Obviously, it's no big deal when people play with friends, and they make up the rules while playing.

But when people play on challenge tables or tournaments, then they should know the rules.

I tried to pick up the basics an age ago and was surprised at how much stuff I had never encountered…..forgotten the rule now…..maybe you will know…..about a ball has to touch two cushions?……. or the cue ball has to?…or two balls must hit a cushion???
