As far as I know this goes on since forever, with every political party in the USA.

And obviously many politicians love that system because it allows cooperations to donate enormous amounts to the politicians.

I wonder how many politicians in any party really want any change of that. Because where should the money come from if not from donations?

Trump does and he is the Preisdent and that's why he has chosen Musk to do it, the only people I see complainng and wanting Musk stopped are Democrats & msm

The GOP politicians have no spine. So, most of them will shut up and let Trump do whatever he wants.

And then they call it democracy.

So, do you agree with the audit or not? Or do you just not lime that fact Trump & Musk are doing it

It's not an audit, it a destruction and a smear campaign!

The idea of an audit and saving costs is obviously a good idea.

I have to admit I don't know if and how any audits worked in the past.

What I don't like is that it seems Musks and his young team get access to everything. How many of them are qualified for the job?

And why is this process so radical and interrupting?

I guess it should be no problem to audit what happened and does happen in the background. Let them work and do the audit at the same time, carefully, and with specialists, and then report in maybe one month or a couple of months what they found and what should be changed.

Why this radical approach? I don't see the need for that.

There does not seem to be one definition of "the Swamp". However in the context of the OP Musk is endeavouring to replace existing bureaucratic structures "the swamp" with trump loyalists. In parallel trump  to Musk's activities he is firing departmental Inspector Generals to void any oversight by non trump appointees. Ergo creating a "swamp" according to his play book which no doubt will be riddles with corruption.
