A 14-year-old student from Suankularb Wittayalai School was injured when a car ran a red light and struck him while he was using a zebra crossing. The incident occurred on February 10 at around 2:50 PM on Tri Phet Road in front of the school, located in Bangkok's Phra Nakhon district.

The driver, named Chanjira, was reportedly distracted by her GPS and unfamiliar with the area when she drove her red Toyota through the crossing, hitting the student. The injured teenager was quickly taken to Klang Hospital for treatment.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Seksan Chumchaem, Deputy Superintendent of Traffic at Phra Ratchawang, stated that charges have been filed against Chanjira for running a red light and reckless driving, which resulted in harm to another person, reported The Thaiger.

Just another day in Thailand, redlights and STOP signs are nothing more than suggestions, and Zebra crossing are completely ignored.

Last time I was in Bangkok I stopped at a zebra crossing where people were already in the road. Cars and motorbikes were driving around me nearly running into those people on the crossing. Ignorant, selfish <deleted> is how I'd describe them.

I always love those Thai excuses. She was unfamiliar with that area and that's why she didn't see the red light.

Just for that stupid sentence she should have her license removed.

And what kind of charges? Is she in jail for attempted manslaughter?

I think one of the worst parts about this is that it seems to be absolutely normal in Thailand to ignore zebra crossings - with or without red light.

When this happens, do other driver honk their horns? No.

Do pedestrians get angry with those reckless drivers? I never saw that happening.

It seems for many Thais that just is normal, nothing to see here.

And the police can't be bothered to take care of this.

Sad, very sad.

I wonder if they realize what will happen if they hit a Farang in a Zebra crossing, or God forbid the child of a Farang, especially one us very violent Farangs. I highly doubt an entire police station could keep me from beating the driver to death right there in the street.

Maybe instead of doing that you should make sure your kids are more careful.

Ignoring Zebra crossings, speed limits in school zones, red lights and taking up 2 lanes... a typical scenario.   happens all day everyday

but at least she has an EXCUSE..  that darn GPS ..  hey wait..  try paying attention to real life and not that smart  Stupid phone

Thailand has to get a Non corrupt department somehow to enforce all road rules and be very serious about them such as removing vehicles, enforcing fines and jailing people.Build more prisons you will need them.
