A French motorcyclist was recently apprehended after a viral video showed him performing a dangerous “superman” stunt—lying face down on his bike while riding through traffic. This reckless display caught the attention of local authorities who acted swiftly to arrest the man for endangering road users.

The motorcyclist, who turned out to be a tourist, was tracked down by Kamala Police and faced charges of reckless driving at the local police station.

In court, he received a suspended prison sentence of two months, meaning he avoids jail if he obeys the law during a two-year period. Additionally, he was fined 6,000 Thai Baht for the offence.

This incident has stirred discussion in Kamala about tourist behaviour and road safety, with local authorities calling for stricter adherence to traffic rules.

They stress the importance of balancing thrill-seeking with respecting local laws designed to keep the roads safe for everyone, reported The Phuket Express.

Yes he is an idiot.

But two months suspended for that?

Can we expect that much worse (local) idiots are treated equally??

Nothing daring or dangerous about that 'stunt' :coffee1:

I use to stand up, completely on the seat, hands off the handlebars.  Of course, this was on an empty street, with not traffic.

He had complete control and could brake at anytime if need.   Though may have toppled over if not getting seated quick enough.

I dunno, I don't think it's over the top when you consider that you get a 2000 baht fine for being a day or two over on your 90 day report.

I can understand the outrage. When you have enough idiots of your own, you don't want foreign idiots adding to it.

Well think they should clean up there own act first before pointing the finger at foreigners copying the locals.

but sure it is bad behavior on the roads by all involved.

A 6,000 baht fine and suspended sentence, same as what the French Arabs who ran the police checkpoint in Kamala got, isn't going to do a damn thing to deter this type of behavior.  They need to jail them for a couple weeks, impound the bikes, deport them, and blacklist them if they want to get the message out that there will be consequences for this type of behavior.

Bit sad you see yourself that way.

I'm glad your not in charge of things.

What a sad place this would be if that was so.
