Let me guess your age. 83.

The real bad boys are Thais, not foreigners.

This is just classic Thai, Blame game,  Smoke and Mirrors.

Thailand is very happy to rip it's tourists off and grab as much money from them as possible.

But when a little bit of trouble comes with the massive money grab, they cry like little babies and splash it all over the news. bad, foreigners.

All amounting to a massive.

TIT.

as I tell the wife ... the "locals" suffer from short sightedness

as in they can't see past whatever fits the bill at any given moment ..

This new measure, announced on 17 February, stems from reports of foreign visitors’ conduct that disrupts social harmony, violates public morals,

....what public morals? 🤔

Best regards,

I went with my family to Safari World outside Bangkok last Saturday. It was packed with organised family groups of mainly Indians and Chinese.

I found them to be unfailingly polite, without being pushy and were excited without being too noisy.

These are the tourists Thailand should be attracting rather than the backpackers and sex tourists flocking to Pai and Pattaya. They need far less policing although probably don’t spend as much per capita as the undesirables. That’s why the latter are still welcomed, it’s the short term gain the Thai hosts can’t ignore.

Decent facilities and environments will not be developed whilst the riff raff continue to be satisfied with the low end sleazy venues. Lauding them as family friendly is just wishful marketing not reality.

The harmony is being disrupted and the moral fabric of society is being torn apart by evil foreigners. There is a chance the locals might get corrupted. They might be engaging in behavior and immorality never before seen on these pure and pristine shores. Oh my. Those pesky foreigners and spoiling the nation. They are to blame for most of the nations woes. Bad, bad boys.

Reduce exempt entry to about 10 countries, from what I've read here an online tourist e-visa is no simple task....and watch things get better for the police........get that damn 'money mindset' in control as been said already.......

No, just get the correct tourists..

Mass cheap Charlie tourists in there millions makes TAT believe they are doing a good job.

However, halve the numbers and get the high class tourist spending is the way to go.

You won't see millionaires pissed and fighting in the streets.

But then what will the bars and Go-Go's do,

Thailand caters to what it's entertainment offers.  Sun, Sea, booze & Sex

Millionaires have better vacation spots than thailand.

What are they doing about all the Thai citizens that are disrupting social harmony, violating public morals, and damaging Thailand's reputation.

There are a lot more of them than Foriegn nationals in Thailand.

Indeed, while Thailand offers 24/7 booze, bars, Go-go's, Karaoke, massage parlours the big spenders will never come.

TAT prefers numbers and keeping the females employed.

Yes and those are the ones that ruin it for everyone

Thailand Cracks Down: Police to Monitor Foreign Nationals Closely

TBH this is nothing new, or surprising!

Many other countries started tightening the immigration screws long time ago, after realizing their folly of having lax immigration laws.

Sad situation, but a reality.

Just a quick google.

As of December 2024, the tourism receipts in Thailand amounted to more than 172 billion Thai baht, which was an increase compared to the previous month. In 2024, Thailand registered revenues of around 1.6 trillion Thai baht in the international tourism segment.Jan 29, 2568 BE

Stop moaning Thailand, you got the money from them

Now you want to cry.

Grow the F-up.

Said many times. The tourists that visit are a reflection of what is on offer.

i’m in Danang for a short trip atm. It was an American R and R destination during the Vietnam war, as was Pattaya.

The difference between the two now is that Danang does not have the sleaze trade that Pattaya does. The sleazy side of Thai tourism is on the Thais, not the tourists.

Let's have another meeting!

And let's face facts... to do this, the police will need to put more people on the streets enforcing laws.

That's far more dangerous than setting up a table on a street corner with 10 cops and a roadblock and stopping confused tourists for not having an IDP so it's not going to happen.

Nah, just BS from a pattaya bar stool.

Pattaya has always been tourist place.

As you say, It was packed with family groups because Safari World is a family type tourist offering. The mass sexpat market won’t go there nor will the alcoholics. They are all in the go go’s and bars.

I’m not quite sure that I follow you, perhaps because I’m not on a bar stool.

but a quick google shows that Danang was indeed a major R and R destination during the war, partly because of its location near China beach. Pattaya also an R and R destination at the time.

Pattaya now, go go’s rampant prostitution, Danang none of it. Why? Yep, the Thai desire for quick bucks fulfilling the expats desire for quick…..

It sure is where you got that Bs about Pattaya from. :coffee1:

With mass tourism comes certain issues which you simply have to deal with - or ban them all from coming.

It's a trade off

Japan has more tourists and less complaints about them. This is less of a tourist problem and more of a thailand problem

In the age of social media the trumpets need blowing from time to time, so people know the trumpets are being blown.

I totally agree with you, and I don't get it when pathetic posters put up confused or sad emojis.

Your post is clear.

Yet they are thinking of extending the drinking hours in Pattaya, Phuket, and Chiang Mai in order to attract the  siad same tourists😕

Well said... Thai resorts are still pedaling the same cheap thrills that they were 50 years ago..

and wonder why things don't improve.

TAT focus on sheer numbers, instead of focusing on changing the attractions to change the clientele

Enjoy that money, with your eyes closed.

Stop crying.

Get totally F-upped finally, and then cry.

Expert advice? :whistling:

announced 17th February, it's already passed and forgotten

Why don't you have "mass deportation" of all foreigners and watch your economy go into the dumper.

Sure, there are always some drunk or high jerk-offs who act out, but that's never changed. As long as you have bars open until 3-4 AM, this will happen.

When people commit crimes, they are banned from the country. Simple enough. But don't say you'll crack down on all of us law-abiding citizens. I'm tired of hearing this 💩

Maybe criminality is a reserved occupation.

It does not matter.

I believe that most national newspapers around the world report more crimes from foreigners in their country than they will of the indigenous population!

it is human nature after all!

not the case in the uk  most of the woke media outlets go out if their way to avoid mentioning ethnicity........"a british national"  being a common descriptive that tells us all we need to know
