A man has been arrested in Buriram after disturbing residents by blasting loud music from his car’s powerful sound system at 01:00. He later apologised, explaining that he was testing the system ahead of his sister’s wedding.

 

The incident came to light after frustrated locals posted a video on the Buriram News Centre Facebook page, complaining that a vehicle fitted with an extensive sound system had been driving through the streets at high volume in the middle of the night, preventing people from sleeping.

 

Following the public outcry, Pol. Maj. Gen. Narongsak Promtha, Commander of Buriram Provincial Police, ordered an investigation. This led to the arrest of 36-year-old Anan, also known as “Eed”, a resident of Mueang Buriram district. He was found with a silver four-door pickup truck, registered in Bangkok, equipped with the powerful sound system.

 

At the police station, Anan admitted to playing loud music but insisted he had no ill intentions. He explained that he had recently installed a new sound system and wanted to test it in silence to ensure it was properly calibrated before using it at his sister’s wedding.

 

“I chose to test the system at night because it was quiet, allowing me to hear if anything was missing. I sincerely apologise to the residents for the disturbance, and I will not do it again,” he said.

 

Police have charged him with using sound equipment without official permission and modifying his vehicle without approval.

After living here for a long time I can't believe that the Thais aren't deaf  they love their music up so high it distorts I've been to some of the biggest rock concerts in the world coming home with my ears ringing but I would not like this in my neighborhood at 1am maybe I'm getting old

in other news a funeral around the corner was allowed to blast concert level sound all night. 

Normal in Thailand.. Hdere in Phetchaburi many cars are driving around like that and every day they have to test it seems and when they use it on the parties or fairs and markets you can here them km far... but with a failing policeforce ... what can you expect?

It is terrible I always keep ear plugs with me.

I think their goal is to bother Falang and make them deaf.

These folks live in a dream world i'm sure.

When something is done that's wrong so many times without consequences, even the locals think there's nothing they can do about it, everyone does it, and has done it for so long, so it never stops. Blasting music any night in an area where people, especially older ones, sleep, is inconsiderate and should be stopped. The same as letting people get away with traffic offenses, daily, all over the country. Of course they'll continue the behavior. Common sense tells any normal person blasting music when people are sleeping is wrong, so those that do it don't give a <deleted>.

The safe volume for continious sound is 80Db according to WHO it's noting for it to be above 120 hear. Thais do not understand the damage they are doing to their hearing. The defer they get the more volume they need. If nothing  is done and quickly many people including children are going to suffer from defness Get a grip Thailand.  

 

The positive part of the story is that there is some official action when testing maximum distortion level of one's car-stereo after midnight...

I sure hope our residence complainer in chief(BOB) will not read this post.

They are deaf already as everyone seems to scream when talking..... A big investigation should be done by an university and the result must be published and I think people would be astonished about the outcome

Weird law but yeah I have been fined, I have dual cab pick up with a walled setup with 6 15@ subs running 10,000w RMS and yeah...,... I have only received fines  never arrested.

Something being illegal doesn't mean it isn't part of the culture.

 

Breaking the law is actually a huge part of Thai culture.
