Is it religious?  Some people might go the temple, but it's not one of the Buddhist holidays.  More of a cultural festival with religious influences, especially from Buddhism, but not a purely religious event.

Ok. but Pattaya is a foreign tourist hub. Many of the tourists are in Pattaya for the festival.

Thailand has already hosted a month-long Songkran festival. So how exactly does Songkran negatively affect the economy? In case you didn’t know the total tourism revenue from both domestic and international tourists during Songkran 2023 was approximately 18.5 billion baht. That was the year Thailand celebrated Songkran for the entire month.

Many years ago it mostly stopped soon after sunset..... Pattaya has gone it's own way since on this celebration.
