Good day

Now I'm back into Thailand with two valid passports. I obtained a new one in my country Germany and my old one with the extension of stay based on retirement. I'm due for my new  extension in August 25. Do i face problems with immigration upon my new extension? At the time on the 7 th August 25 my old passport will expire on the 1 rest February 2026 .

Presumably you entered on your old passport?  Most places would have cancelled that when issuing the new one, maybe it's a special German thing but cannot imagine for what reason.  Nevertheless it ought to be straightforward to get everything moved over although immigration might wonder why the old one was not cancelled.

No, but you'll have to transfer the stamps to the new passport before submitting the extension application.

Depending on the IO used, allow more time to complete the procedures, particularly if it's different desks.

OP, regarding "two valid passports"

From AI ......

"Yes, your old German passport is canceled and returned to you when you renew it. The old passport is marked as invalid and returned to you along with the new passport. This ensures you only have one valid passport at a time"

I asked earlier which immigration office do you deal with.

Be aware that for CW (extensions retirement) ...the immigration officer will require photocopies of bank book pages back to start of current extension along with update if bankbook to show financial compliance

When a new German passport is issued, the old one is invalidated, either by being stamped or marked.
The permission of stay in the old passport is still valid.
On entry, you should have presented both passport and the IO should have placed the entry stamp in the new passport.

Good day

I entered Thailand with my old passport which is still valid until the

1 rest of February 2026. My old passport was not invalidated in Germany. But as I understand there won't be any issues at immigration.

Thank you for your advice.

Good morning

Ok I'm carrying too valid passport but at the time of renewal my old passport would not allow for an extension of stay cause of 6 months validity rule , expiration date 1.2.2026 .

He means if he had not renewed his pp then for his extension due Aug 25 the extension would only be granted till expiry of existing pp. Feb 2026.

Nothing to do with "6 month rule"

In any event a confused thread.

Already advised to attend his immigration office and have visa info and any Stamps transferred.

FWIW: Doesn't make any sense the old pp is still valid or not.

Red herring.

Immigration may transfer entry stamp from old pp. All in all irrelevant.

Are your 2 valid passports issued from the same country?

You must have concurrent passports

If not concurrent when you renew your passport your country will cancel your old passport when new passport is issued.

I have 2 valid Australian passports, one concurrent, it is only valid for 3 years.

The OP did not indicate applying for a concurrent passport.

Seems was simple renewal of existing pp while in Germany.

Was your Oz concurrent pp for business purposes?

Oh, OK, thanks

My concurrent passport is for business, I work offshore, the rig travels different countries.

Difficult to obtain in Australia, every time renewal comes around I must get letter from my employer.

They don't issue them any more but those 64 page passport we used to get were handy but I would fill it up quickly.

Sorta guessed as much.

In any event...the OP has been given simple instructions to proceed

Namely go to immigration office when suits to do visa info and stamp transfer.

Just general information for any Oz folk wishing to renew pp while in Thailand the online/mail process works a treat.

You don't even send your current pp with application.

20 day turn around for me in 2024.

That's great news.

Over the many years I'd spend a lot of time going to the embassy in Bangkok for new applications for my children and renewals.

Cut the corner off yourself = cancelled.

Yep, we had to drive from CW to Bangna to fetch the previous bankbook because the new one didn't go back to the previous year. Begging & pleading with a senior officer did zippo.

CW uses a form to fill in for transfer.

Bottom of form lists required docs.

Of course bank book photocopies was not on the list.

When I protested (calmly) to senior io rear of L34 she sent me to lower level to do update.

My bankbook was not sufficient.

For anyone interested in form some offices use for transfer. Here is link
