May 10, 2025May 10 Wise is normally pretty instantaneous but recently I seem to get unnecessary delays. Yesterday I sent £59 from the UK but today it still says "sending". I sent £12 just a few minutes ago and the recipient got it almost instantaneously. I have sent them a message to ask why. It just seems these days delays are getting more frequent. Fortunately this was small amount of money but I am concerned about what happens if this a large amount of cash? Anybody else experiencing this?

The transfer I did on Friday is still sending. Wise never used to be like this. They just take the pi55 now.
May 10, 2025May 10 Author Does anybody know if Wise comes under the UK Financial regulator? I can't cancel the transaction but it is still only sending. I have had to send the money again which has gone through but the original money is just hanging there. Wise are totally useless now.

Not with wise but with other company had to provide legal proof of where the money come from, twice I was asked and provided letters from lawyers and bank, after that OK What annoys me is that they allready had the same info

May 11, 2025May 11 Today is Sunday and holiday. Tomorrow another (substitute) holiday. No normal operation until Tuesday.

They have local partners that make the deposit, and they lost dee money a few months back. this also plays a factor Quote 9 May Friday Royal Ploughing Ceremony Day Government Holiday 11 May Sunday Visakha Bucha National Holiday 12 May Monday Day off for Visakha Bucha National Holiday As of May 6, they also cannot transfer to a large number of Thai banks they once could. There are only 5 or 6 banks they can work with left. The issue is Thailand's protectionist banking regulations.

May 11, 2025May 11 Author Yes I saw all that. The first transfer was done on Friday and is still not complete. The transfer on Saturday was done in seconds. Every week end seems to me a problem now. Not just bank holidays. But surely computers don't take holidays.
May 11, 2025May 11 Author Update. Friday's transfer still pending. Saturday morning transfer done in seconds. Transfer done 11 pm UK time Saturday completed 3 am Sunday morning so not a bank holiday or week end issue. And this is a common occurrence now. Time to find a new transfer tool.

Should she keep that money in the account ( for a short time) till the exchange rate is favorable and then send when i want it ? 3. Reason given can be "living expenses" or what else is best ? 4. Anything else to know when she opens a Wise account ? Note: the amount at any one time would be a less than 300 thousand baht

I've only been using WISE for 3-4 months, and my experience has been that transfers under THB10,000 took a few seconds, anything more than that 2-3 work days. I think it's best to build that waiting period into one's planning. One way to approach this is to keep a WISE balance. Adding is what takes time. Once the money is in WISE balance, converting it to THB and sending it to a Thai bank are instantaneous.

You can keep the balance in a variety of denominations, including Canadian Dollar and Thai Baht, but for a simple transfer there is no need to worry about this. 2. That is a personal matter. If you think she can time it right, sure you can do it. Most people are skeptical about trying to time foreign exchange conversions. 3. See attached image. The advantage of this option is that if the transfer is deposited in Bangkok Bank, it is identified as foreign origin (which is required for certain visa situations but otherwise inconsequential). 4. Transferring THB 300k may take some time to complete. Whenever possible, give yourself a sufficient buffer (a week or two), to make sure the funds are there when you need them. Other than that, there is nothing special about opening a WISE account.

Could send a small amount first to ensure it arrives and account details were correct

This money is going to a Thai person. Thai planning consists of what is happening now this instance or in the next 5 minutes. Thais are incapable of planning for tomorrow, next week, next month. Transfer from the UK bank to Wise is quick so not an issue. But point taken.
