Yeah, your sources are credible.

Didn't Trump promise to reduce the debt burden? 😆

"The package would cut taxes deeply – essentially making permanent the sweeping individual income tax provisions of Trump’s 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, as well as adding several temporary tax breaks to fulfill the president’s campaign promises.

It also calls for historic cuts to the nation’s safety net – particularly Medicaid and food stamps – in an effort to cut spending.

But the tax revenue loss would still swamp the spending reductions. The package would add $3.3 trillion to the nation’s debt over the next decade, according to a preliminary estimate from the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget.

Annual deficits would jump from $1.8 trillion in 2024 to $2.9 trillion by 2034 as the federal government would continue to spend more than it would raise in revenue, the committee projected."

The United States just lost its last perfect credit rating

I just came across this web site which reinforces the idea that Trump wants to cut Medicaid.

And they have another really poignant article here entitled "Republicans Want You to Die".

So these folks are not only telling you Trump will cut Medicaid, but that he flat out wants people to die.

https://www.commondreams.org/opinion/republicans-want-you-to-die

I truly surrender. And this time I mean it. I am no longer posting in any more Trump threads.

There are an army of media people out there making all sorts of claims.

Who knows what people are filling their minds with?

Believe whatever you want.

It's way too much work to debate with people.

Maybe Trump will cut Medicaid and does want you to die. What do I know?

MAGA is imploding.

The big beautiful bill has been blocked by House GOP.

Supreme Court blocks Trump from restarting Alien Enemies Act deportations.

More to follow. Supreme court to rule on birthright citizenship and nationwide injunctions by a district court judge. Expect major losses for MAGA.

What's sad is most MAGA folks don't recongize MAGA is the propaganda front for GOP and their upper crust elites and uber rich to grab more money, power and control.

Meanwhile Fox News is doing there magical crazy spin on all this (or just down right directing attention away) from the rip-off job being put over on the middle and lower classes of the USA.

Destroy Education  (don't like educated folks because they think for themselves and resist power grabs)

Keep them divided - Fox News and right-wing media making liberals (who are in favor of equity to all people) into demons and telling everyone to not listen (because of course this doesn't match GOP agenda of making the uber rich richer)

I could go on but one of the greatest intellectuals around, Noam Chomsky, is well recognized as spelling out  all this right-wing political  behavior and it's very detrimental effects on the lower and middle classes.

I'll believe it when I see it. But you don't have to get too excited - this is pretty clear cut - even avid Trump supporting Republicans are against this such as Josh Hawley due mainly to the cuts to Medicaid.

You're writing Hyperbole. Have you watched the entire documentary? Or did you just Google around to find some people who are bashing Chomsky and then post this meme pic?

How is Chomsky a con artist? Who is he trying to con and for what?

Do you know what a Maxim is? If you did you would see the preceding phrase in a much different light.

16 hours ago, StandardIssue said:

For what I don't know.

I just gave you an example .... he's claiming the "masters of mankind" want "all for ourselves, and nothing for other people".

This is fear-mongering and a false caricature of the elites.

Many people in the US actually are self-made millionaires. And many people can earn good wages if they apply themselves.

The elites do keep the lion's share for themselves, true. It's been that way since the beginning of time. But it doesn't mean there's no hope to have a decent life for anyone else.

You've already lost credibility with me. You write fairly inteligently but not being able to answer why you call him a con artist just tells me you are making some kind of unfounded judgement against a very very famous and noted Professor from one of the most prestigious universities in the world. MIT

You've either not read what I've written or just don't understand it. You choose to focus in on this one "masters of mankind" term and then make a conclusion that he's fear mongering. All you've done is convince me you don't really comprehend the body of his work or many his very well established concepts and their relation to the latest trends in society (for instance the separation of the classes).

Sorry friend, do yourself a favor, study the work. Don't just focus on one meme you found to support what you would like to be true about Chomsky.

BTW, there is a big difference between a self made millionaire and the "elites' that Chomsky refers too. Elites are in the triple digit Millionaire and Billionaire class these days.

I'm a self made millionaire. That really isn't saying much these days. Self made millionaires are NOT the elites he is referring to. He's talking about REAL money 100's of Millions of dollars etc.

They have power to influence legislation, media, legal proceedings, hire expensive lawyers, buy political influence and on and one.

I, a self made millionaire cannot do these things. I don't have REAL money in today's terms.

My point is he said "all for ourselves, and nothing for other people".

Most people have a roof over their head, a car, a 72 inch screen, access to entertainment, ability to travel, etc...

So you don't see that he's exaggerating

Here he is again making nonsensical claims. Barbarism. That's a fancy word they teach you at MIT. Be afraid.

Maybe they are deliberately trying to divide the country. Some people predict the US will break up into different countries.

Maybe intellectuals like Chomsky are being used for this agenda. Notice how the article below uses the phrase "forces in media". And maybe even Trump is being used for this agenda as he is dividing the country more than anyone.

Why the US ‘does not get to assume that it lasts forever’

But he acknowledges there’s no assurance this patient nurturing of civic connection can overcome all the forces in politics, the media and communications technology blowing toward separation.

It’s been voted down because the cuts to social programs don’t go far enough.

The tax cuts to the hyper wealthy must be paid for by the poor.

So there are 2 possibilities.

1 - You are excessively paranoid

2 - They are not cutting Medicaid. They are trying to get rid of the abuse and fraud in the social security systems. Again, this is from the horse's mouth. But says YOU that nothing from this web site can be trusted.

https://www.whitehouse.gov/articles/2025/03/fact-check-president-trump-will-always-protect-social-security-medicare/

The Trump Administration will not cut Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid benefits. President Trump himself has said it (over and over and over again).

Elon Musk didn’t say that, either. The press is lying again.

Ok then how is he going to do it then? I know you question media but here is a quote from the Economist, hopefully viewed as a relaible source for facts and figures regardless of political affiliations.
'The only chance Republicans have of coming close to balancing their budget bill would be through almighty spending cuts. A separate committee has drafted a plan to cut spending by nearly $900bn, principally by reducing expenditures on Medicaid, the health-insurance programme for the poor. Further proposed cuts are expected on food stamps, the nutrition-assistance programme for the poor.'  https://www.economist.com/united-states/2025/05/13/republicans-have-a-plan-to-add-trillions-to-the-national-debt (might be behind a paywall. I have a subscription).

So the plan is there (and it's a GOP appointed committee) but you assert that Trump is promising to not touch SS, Medicare/Medicaid. So how EXACTLY will $900bn be cut?

On 5/17/2025 at 6:38 AM, save the frogs said:

I don't know much about it ... so I have to look it up.

Is it possible our mate Lewie is misrepresenting this bill to suit his own bias and twisted agenda?

Here is what it says on the govt page:

https://www.whitehouse.gov/articles/2025/05/one-big-beautiful-bill-is-a-once-in-a-generation-chance/

1 - It's the largest tax cut ever

Americans earning between $30,000 and $80,000 will pay around 15% less in taxes

2 - It kicks illegal immigrants off taxpayer-funded Medicaid benefits. This bill eliminates waste, fraud, and abuse by ending benefits for at least 1.4 million illegal immigrants who are gaming the system.

3 - It prohibits Medicaid funding for gender transition procedures for minors.

Might have some valid points if citing a creditable source … not the ministry of propaganda. Largest tax cut ever … if you compare it to the expiration of the 2017 Trump/Republican tax cut that added how much to the USA debt due to those previous cuts going mostly to the wealthy and corporations? Largest tax cut ever? And who gets the overwhelming amount of benefit? Apologize, some of us are able to think our way through the misleading BS.
