In a bid to enhance safety for tourists, police and administrative officers conducted surprise inspections at several renowned nightclubs in Pattaya on 23rd May. This operation aimed to prevent underage entry, drug activity, and firearm possession, thereby promoting a safer environment for visitors.

Led by Chonburi officials, including Provincial Defence Chief Lt. Col. Cholathit Leyanon and Bang Lamung District Officer Nathapop Yomjinda, the joint task force teamed up with Pattaya City Police under the leadership of Police Lt. Col. Suchat Dusadee.

They carried out inspections at four venues, checking licences, employee records, and IDs of patrons.

Drug tests on employees were also conducted. The inspections found no illegal activities, underage patrons, or drug presence, reflecting the strict compliance of these establishments with government regulations.

Lt. Col. Cholathit highlighted that this operation aligns with the policy of Chonburi Governor Thawatchai Sritong.

The collaborative efforts between provincial and district authorities and the Pattaya City Police aim to address social issues, particularly drug abuse, and ensure a secure tourism experience. Authorities urge businesses to continue adhering strictly to government measures.

Nothing could be more unfriendly, than a huge squad of armed police in body  armour, roaming the cat house areas of Pattaya....who wants to sit with pretty girls while these goons over-run your fav bar?!

Hard to believe they uncovered nothing untoward.  What a total waste of police resources, whilst 40+ people were being killed on the roads.

When they would come into the Go-Go that I was managing just off walking Street to do these inspections the first thing they would say is lights on music down we might as well have closed for the night after that as we lost all the business it was in the bar and by the time they left it wasn't worth staying open.

These are small interruptions in keepling things safe and legal. Good on them for the effort.
Try living in the U.K. instead where the police have lost the streets to crime and can do nothing to retrieve the lawless situation..

A totally ridiculous police statement pretending that the police are trying to make bars safer. The reason they are raiding bars is that they are seeking pay-offs. These raids will frighten foreigners away rather than encourage them to visit.

They have no need to check clubs because they have been closed down saving the police for their more important work of scouring the internet/blogosphere for 'upsetting' tweets and the like. The British Filth are an effing disgrace. The Thai police are much better.

I was in a Walking Street club that was raided by several dozen police a few years ago. We were prevented from leaving for about an hour while they harassed the manager, finally arresting her for improper licenses (per news reports in the morning).

Maybe just me but being locked in a bar for an hour so the police could check licenses didn't boost my confidence as a tourist, nor convince me that Pattaya is a fun nightlife destination.

Lucky they didn't make you pee in a cup..to test for drugs and it came up purple that would have really not been fun.

You are assuming that they were bars tourists frequentl. Would not be surprised if they were Thai bars where most of the problem are

"Pattaya Nightclub Inspections Boost Tourist Confidence" – seems more like the spoiled the party for the tourists...:whistling:

“”In a bid to enhance safety for tourists, police and administrative officers conducted surprise inspections at several renowned nightclubs in Pattaya on 23rd May”

“They carried out inspections at four venues, checking licences, employee records, and IDs of patrons.”

Why did they check the ID of patrons if the objective was to make said patrons feel safe?

I think I would be totally intimidated if a bunch of police showed up and started checking everybody. If the idea was to look for overstay, fair enough. But that isn’t what the article says they were looking for.

I doubt this made anyone feel more confident. I think most people believe that these bars were selected because they didn't pay bribes to the police.

If the police wanted to gain some respect they would enforce laws like helmets, or running red lights, or insurance, or alcohol laws before 1:00.AM. Make day to day life safer.

Stop harassing street prostitutes so they can get more bribes from bars and massage parlors

They could stop trying to get headlines for doing their job.

Unless they wanted to make real.headlines for arresting some police for taking bribes.

Got to hustle for the brown envelopes in low season, hence "no illegal activities found".

LOL! How on eart could sudden inspections by a swarm of armed police boost confidense?? 🤣 Confidence of WHAT??? Test tubes and jail?? Thailand is so funny at times! They love a "joke" now and then!🤣🤣

Perhaps that was the idea... they probably found no infractions, but did help out the competition! Been in the middle of a few of those.

Payoffs worked well then.

A nonsense and misleading article. The police rarely if ever inspect the tourist nightclubs on Walking St etc. They do however inspect the many Thai clubs that are found on 3rd road etc. These have nothing to do with keeping tourists safe.

"Drug tests on employees were also conducted. The inspections found no illegal activities, underage patrons, or drug presence, reflecting the strict compliance of these establishments with government regulations," just why am I thinking pre-warned.

As for the Headline, yeah, I needed a laugh.
