I would imagine the same traits that make any marriage successful....... bar girl or not a bar girl.

There are a few reasons men choose bargirls.

 

Inability to maintain a relationship with a normal woman.

If you are referring to the allegedly typical Pattaya sex worker - tattooed, dark skinned, snub nosed, avaricious and uneducated farm girl , I agree the prospects don't augur that well. On the other hand I have known unions developed from the seediest quarters which have worked out.Let's face it the foreign clientele in Pattaya and other sex resorts is also usually uneducated and short on money/class and almost always some combination of middle aged/ugly/fat. So I would suggest it is often a union of equals.

 

There are of course courtesan/models/pretties in Bangkok and elsewhere who have a commercial view of their love life.But they would have no interest in some fat old sex tourist with zero sophistication and a dubious bank balance.

Some of the views here I find astounding, the assumptions and labels applied. When you meet a female, no matter what location or setting, you have absolutely no idea if she's been ridden like Seattle Sue or has a low body count. You just can't possibly know.

That's another question.

 

Many are just there for the money, and will stay no matter what the man looks like, smells like, or how he treats her.

 

Most have been abused in childhood so are used to this treatment and having money negates all the other negatives.

 

Some haven't been bargirls for long and want to be taken care of, as the locals might have done a real number on them and they think a foreigner is a better option.

 

They are still women under it all, and depending on how they were raised, are still looking for a father figure, especially if one was never there or was abusive, controlling or neglective, so they want different than what they saw or a fantasy figure because of the bad treatment they received. "the perfect man"

 

The longer they are in the trade, the more any man is seen as a John so they'll stay if their needs are met, no matter what those needs are.

 

If a man treats a woman well, doesn't cheat, abuse or neglect her, and provides,  the only reason she would leave is depression untreated, unmet greediness or underlying narcissism
