This reads like it's  harsher penalties for Farang and less so for Thai?. so if i Thai rider kills a Foreigner / Tourist  & pleads " no have money" for compensation then its ok..

I also have that impression at least, it has been several years since my thai partner's sister, on her motorbike, was run over to death by a thai nut who went to overtake in a pick-up on a 2-lane road, got into a skid, (you know rear-wheel drive) and so ran the woman to death.
The total amount compensated by that guy was 400k
That won't let that Englishman (also a dummy) get away with it.

Not victim blaming in any way but it would be good to know if she was wearing a helmet.

Even though he was stupid, I still feel bad for the guy...He was not trying to kill the girl....

If it was a real accident, one can have sympathy for the guy.

It says he initially denied all wrongdoing... after killing an innocent person.

Still feel bad for him?

What do you feel about that poor girl?

RIP to the victim and condolences to her family.

He should be charged with Manslaughter. A long sentence will be good for him.

I remember about a decade ago in Bangkok a Thai bus driver was according to news reports literally lynched by a mob for using his bus as a weapon around Bangkok.

This little chav is lucky he just copped a light beating at the scene.

There will be plenty more time for it where he's going though.

That could be my wife, or one of my daughters.

This struck a chord with me. I always use Bongkot 8 to shortcut from 3rd road to my place on Soi Arunothai! Partner and I, at least 3 times a week.

Even if compensation is arranged, jail time is a definite must for this stupidity...but l also constantly spot motorbikes with no headlights at night, stop lights not working, constant failure to use indicators & failure to stop at padestrian crossings & speed limits totally disregarded, that must have caused thousands of deaths and should also be acted upon more harshly, but just seems to be tolerated...

But if you're Thai driving a Porsche and killed two people on a motorbike nothing happens to you Walk back to your house.

When a Thai person kills Thais  or injures Thais they don't have to pay anything but when a white person kills a Thai all hell breaks loose

with what he was doing on a less than deserted street, he didn’t really have to try. One miscalculation and someone was going to get hurt. And then he lied….

Contrary  to what some people would have you belive not everyone in the UK is on benefits far from it in fact.

Though everyone does have the benefit of free heath care and education for their children no matter how much or how little money they have.

We always get these clowns on here tarring us as Brits with the same brush.

An idiot is an idiot, they don't have specific nationalities.

Agree! However, regarding some nationalities they are heavily overrepresented.

I guess this describes the killer's mentality perfectly!

Police arrived in time, it seems...

However, witnesses said that the injured foreign rider blamed Ms Jurairat for the collision.

Enraged by his response, the crowd turned on the rider and attacked him before police intervened and volunteers provided first aid.

In December 2022, there were 7,388 foreign nationals in Thai prisons, representing 2.8% of the total prison population. The top 10 countries of origin for these prisoners were Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, China, Nigeria, and Malaysia, among others. A handbook for foreign prisoners in Thai prisons is available in English, providing information on rules, regulations, and general guidelines.

He can't use his passport; have they confiscated his driving licence?

I would think they would take him into custody because he definitely has to be a flight risk at this point.

One stupid stunt showing off which has ruined a young man’s life and ended a poor woman's 😪

this is a very sad story, this Engish idiot has ruined his life because he thought he would impress people

I sort of feel sorry for him being young but he was reckless and likely drunk when it happened

very very sad.............................RIP angel

Yes, sad story for the victim.

Cannot blame it on Pataya though. There are idiots everywhere,

I lived in Pattaya many years and never had a problem. Of course I had put our daughter to bed & was cuddled up with my very pretty wife by 10:00 PM.

NOBODY KNOWS who is in CHARGE in Thailand????

I'm in Florida (I was born here!) Ron Desantis s is a kick-ass Governor & we have a kick-ass President.

I love Thailand. I love Surin. Just wonderful places with bad governance....I'm not the POTUS, but to quote him, "I don't know", then a 35,000 lb bomb lands on your doorstep...10 or 12 of them.

MAGA

No mention if he’d consumed alcohol or drugs, but no matter. He got the attention he sought, but now for all the wrong reasons and deserves all that’s coming his way.

RIP to the innocent lady who had the misfortune to come across the idiot showing off like a little kid.

R.I.P. Lady.

Sorry one of ours,  did this to you.

All so unnecessary.

If all is true about his ridiculous riding I don't want him to escape justice and compensation to the family at the very least, plus a prison sentence.

Did you read this by any chance?

Authorities confirmed that the rider’s passport has been flagged, meaning he cannot leave Thailand while the investigation and legal proceedings are ongoing.

(Not a lawyer) but it looks like a choice between Section 291 - Negligence and Section 290 - Recklessness approaching intent... my guess is this would rise to Section 290 since there was intent to be reckless...

If that is correct the punishment would be between 3 and 15 years (probably top end of that range), which typically could be reduced somewhat if he managed to compensate the family of the deceased.  (Section 291 would be up to 10 years and a small fine).

That was funny! Do you also have statistic about idiotic behavior? 😂

This time it resulted in death, but I am covering all the mad, crazy and silly things that you guys don´t go to prison for. You know, just the stuff that is very annoying and sad to read about.

You are probably right. I personally believe that the police have to come down really hard on people like this.
