Enjoy your misery 😂

Composing that epic response must have taken some serious mental effort from you.

Such a pity it was all wasted.

Yeah, I agree. The man is an idiot and hopefully he'll get a slap one day, but it's hardly a matter for the police. Forget it, move on. And generally don't beep at people, it can be very dangerou

Many times a have had motorcyclist's riding towards me on the wrong side of the road when I am riding my own motorbike. I do not just give them a beep, I give them a loud blast.

So it is my bad riding that costs these morons to ride on the wrong side of the road is it??

Seems your first driving instructor wasn't very good.

You are conflating their disregard for road safety with your total waste of time trying to teach them otherwise.

Bur carry on with your "loud blast" nonsense if you think it somehow validates your existence here (it doesn't).

Having driven on the Pacific Coast Highway between San Francisco and Mexico, and all over Los Angeles, also Las Vegas, I have found the standard of American driving very high indeed, far higher than in the UK.

Road fatality stats suggest otherwise - by a factor of x5.

United Kingdom 2.61 road fatalities per 100,000 population.

United States 14.2 road fatalities per 100,000 population.

By population: roads in the USA are 5.5x more deadly than the UK.

Someone always tries to back pedal out of these 'facts' stating more mileage is covered in the USA than the UK, so there is this...

United Kingdom 3.8 road fatalities per 1 billion vehicle KM's

United States 6.9 road fatalities per 1 billion vehicle KM's

By vehicle KMs driven: roads in the USA are 1.8x more deadly than the UK.

This suggest your 'anecdotal observations' are simply incorrect.

He was in the middle of completing his turn when you approached. A sensible driver would slow down a bit allowing him to complete the turn. Instead you approached without considering his action. This suggests a degree of road rage on your part. You’ve been in Thailand long enough to know that. Keep your behavior (constantly beeping at anyone whom you think are in the wrong) and one day the driver will either shoot you or beat you up. As they say here “up to you”. 😂😂😂

100% this...  But the OP instead 'chose' to crowd the Mazda driver and use his horn - seemingly to highlight to the Mazda driver that he was 'doing something wrong'...   i.e. teach him a lesson.

Realistically - its doesn't matter if the Mazda driver was driving imperfectly, doing something wrong, not-indicating etc...

its clear what the drivers intentions were and someone without a 'chip on their shoulder' or someone without a 'general obsession about poor driving here' would not have something to prove and try to 'make a point' by approaching so closely then using the horn....

The Mazda driver was a total idiot - but ONLY after his buttons had been pushed by Lordgrinz is behavior in the manner in which he drove so close and then used his horn....    Lordgrinz was being far from considerate and his 'triggering' of the situation was completely unnecessary...

This is what happens when to people who've forgetting their humanity let their ego take over.

I can only tell you my experience, I have only driven for four weeks in America and I was surprised at how good the American road behaviour is.

Must defend US driving.

Have done several 3 month road trips in the US all of 10,000 miles or more (Hertz must hate me) and I just love driving there.

75mph speed limits and fabulous roads, such great scenery, such great small towns and people.

Drivers are on the whole respectful and obey road rules far better than anywhere else I have driven, including Germany and Australia.

I brought some canisters of  "Fox Five Point Three" with me from the U.S. This is the Pepper Spray the the police use in the U.S. It is nasty stuff and will incapacitate someone immediately. I always carry this in my side pocket of my driver's door, ready to use in Thailand.

Pepper spray is illegal here.

The legal situation
  • Contradictory information: There is some conflicting information on this topic. Some sources, including Wikipedia, mention that its use for self-defense is legal and that it is freely available in stores, though public possession can be fined.
  • Severe penalties: Other sources, including research papers and news outlets, emphasize the strict laws and severe penalties for civilian possession. The penalties can include:
    • Up to 10 years in prison.
    • A fine of up to 1 million Baht.
  • Official regulations: The official position is that products containing capsaicin, the active ingredient in pepper spray, are classified as hazardous substances. This means that the production, import, export, or possession of pepper spray without proper licensing is prohibited.
  • Confiscation: Even if found in public, the item may be confiscated, and a fine imposed.
