Police in Pattaya have been nationally recognized for their innovative project aimed at enhancing community cooperation to bolster crime prevention efforts. The initiative, launched by Pattaya City Police Station, was selected from over 1,400 police stations as a model for community engagement. It received the “Excellent, 3rd Place” award for the 2025 fiscal year by the Royal Thai Police, highlighting its success as a top community policing strategy.

Pattaya’s acknowledgment reflects a significant shift from traditional enforcement to a more collaborative approach between officers and residents. The project, "Stronger Together," focuses on practical strategies such as crime watch groups, community meetings, and partnerships with local businesses. These measures have reportedly increased trust, encouraged incident reporting, and reduced barriers between law enforcement and the community.

The award ceremony is scheduled for September 25 at the Sriyanont Conference Room, Royal Thai Police Headquarters in Bangkok, where Police General Kittirat Phantuphet will present the awards. Police officials consider this a major milestone, indicative of both police efforts and community willingness to engage in crime prevention.

As Pattaya continues to develop as a bustling tourist destination, crime prevention complexities grow, making community-police partnerships even more crucial. Local officers are committed to expanding the programme, with plans for more community training sessions and digital reporting tools to further enhance cooperation.

This achievement underscores Pattaya’s endeavor to reconcile its image as an entertainment hub with goals to improve public order. Police view shared responsibility between the public and law enforcement as the best path forward, aiming for even stronger collaboration in the future.

Key Takeaways

  • Pattaya Police received a national award for fostering community cooperation.
  • The initiative focuses on practical solutions and engagement with residents.
  • Future plans include expanding the program with new tools and training.

On Friday it took 45 minutes to travel 2? kms from Suk to 2nd Road.  Illegally parked cars; pathetic attempts to U-turn and dozens of obstructive acts from Me-first drivers.  Of course as it was weekend (RTP usually starts on Thursday night) there was not a cop to be seen; I guess they were collecting their awards!
