Trump rapid escalation to an Authoritarian State

There is no longer any lack of clarity for Trump's intentions, some examples below, yet many still support him - why?

Trump flouts the rules. What happened to our checks and balances?

The Trump administration’s announcement last week about the new regulations for H-1B visas, including that most will now require a $100,000 fee, made headlines. But few pointed out that, as usual, the president played fast and loose with the rules, which in this case require a prior period of public notice and comment, while invoking national security to levy the fee.

Critics blasts Trump admin for firing FBI agents who took knee at George Floyd protest

Choke on it': Trump dismisses outrage at his political prosecutions

President Donald Trump has ordered the deployment of US troops to Portland, Oregon, authorising use of "full force" if needed, to suppress protests targeting immigration detention centres.

There are numerous other examples in the public space; to repeat there are not any doubts of salutatorian  direction of the Trump Administration

I think 77,000,000 people did not vote for him, they should probably get off their knees and stand up. Maybe that Top Generals gathering was about domestic missions....Gonna lose all your weapons soon........

Actually I understand roughly 80 million American citizens didn't even vote nor acknowledged by either party. So far as I know their POVs are not canvassed, would be interesting to know what they're thinking right now...

Having a laugh....since when did Trump give a damn about indigenous people of any nation?

As much as it saddens me to say, if the majority of politically active citizens want an authoritarian country, then so be it. You don't have to "love it or leave it," but if you're not aware of what direction Murikkka is headed now, you're intentionally ignorant. And to all those who stayed home on voting day, "Sum num na!"

Good luck with that, they would screw the place completely after 5 months.

So you have already decided that his fall will be violent. The only remaining question is how violent?

Not to mention what "business"?

And Trumpers are getting fed up of what?

The undisputable evidence for that claim was delivered on 6 January 2021

People accused me of hyperbole.

Turns out he is much worse than my expectations.

So the troops in Portland are not justified?

There's no attacks on ICE facilities there?

Who the heck knows what's going on?

I need REAL news only please.

You DO realize he ran on lied about lowering prices?

When he recognised the Lumbee tribe, which other Presidents would not?

https://www.npr.org/2025/01/25/g-s1-44677/lumbee-tribe-recognition-north-carolina-trump

The Lumbee Tribe has more than 55,000 members, making it one of the largest Native groups in the United States. Located in the impoverished and diverse Robeson County, Trump had pledged during his 2024 campaign to recognize the tribe and won the county with 63% of the vote.

"I love the Lumbee Tribe," Trump said to reporters

Since when are soldiers law enforcement agents? You think because they carry guns and are trained to inflict violence that qualifies them? You have a very low opinion of law enforcement.

Ever since the Democrat Lyondon B Johnson sent troops to Alabama to protect civil rights marches.

Democrats started it.

Because no one can mess with troops. And the goal is to fix a problem.

Trump claims they're threatening to burn down federal buildings and they are professional anarchists.

He mentions Soros and another rich guy possibly funding this. He could absolutely be telling the truth, although Portland claims it's unjustified.

Memphis too. Trump says you can't walk a block without getting shot in Memphis.

That was a case of crowd control. And you've got your history wrong. Actually, Dwight D. Eisenhower deployed troops to protect black students after the Brown vs. the Board of Education decision.

Why can't we just be honest and address the turd in the punch bowl? He wants to turn Murikkka into an authoritarian nation and will use every similar problem like this to place armed soldiers in US cities and every MAGA supporter is cheering him on. I knew this was going to happen (it didn't take a genius to figure THIS one out) and divorced myself financially from Murikkka. If the majority of politically active people want to have a king, then so be it - that's the democratic way, right? Oh the irony! 555

There's a reason that Congress passed the posse comitatus law. The same reason that the founding fathers were very skeptical of the military. They didn't want a militarized state. As for Trump's claim, why should anyone believe the little boy who cried wolf. And George Soros has been an obsession of the loony right since forever. How many crimes has he been prosecuted for, much less convicted of?

I think that there's a strong argument to be made for that.

Yeah, good point about Soros. I don't know.

Regarding troops, I don't know what he's doing. He claims the crime rate is high in Memphis, which it is, but not sure what troops can do. Obviously, crime rate would go down if troops are there, but how long can you keep troops there?

I guess it's not a bad idea to be suspicious of Trump's motivations ...

Lies [lied] you say....have a listen.

(why is ex FBI boss liar/leaker Comey under indictment).

You're not supposed to even hint at agreeing with me. That's not playing fair!!

Haters couldn't find a tootsie roll in septic tank full of turds. You democrat fools, having learned NOTHING ain't seen nothing yet. Trumps gonna make it all right and y'all gonna lose your empty minds.
