October 3, 2025Oct 3 not going to check but I believe my credit cards with BKK and Kasikorn banks have an annual fee of Bt.1000 each.

Yes just keep paying the extra charges on your American credit card to use it here, makes perfect sense. Why post if you are clueless?

Platinum, Wisdom and a spouse, never been charged a fee, just need to make a monthly purchase.
October 4, 2025Oct 4 My credit card from KBank has no fees at all as long as I use it 12 times a year, easy to do buy 50 THB items off Shopee! Otherwise its a 4000THB annual fee if I don't use it 12 times - never happened in all the years I had it.

October 4, 2025Oct 4 My UOB Visa card yearly fee is quite a lot, has the airport lounge access - Priority Pass and other perks, may have to consider a lower fee credit card and lose the perks.........

I have left all my banking in America. My investments are all now through Thai sources that my wife manages. Life is good being retired here. My credit card is unsecured. Most expats would need to show a work permit and sufficient salary to qualify for an unsecured card. There may be exceptions for non-salary Thai-sourced income, but not sure.

Assuming you know which bank she uses, If you really want to know whether your gf is trying something on, just look up her bank's credit card fee schedule online.

If you earn below the minimum monthly income you'll find yourself in that situation. Alternatively, if you are married, get a credit card through your wife. The card comes in your name, but the wife has to pay the bill. That's what I have with ttb anyway.
