Do expats go to same places as tourists ?

I guess if I lived in Pattaya on a fixed income say 50k a month I wouldn't be able to afford going out to these places not that you probably do if you live there

if I lived there I would probably eat at Nicky's 99 baht breakfast I guess

I couldn't afford to dine at fancy restaurants every month

I don't pay rent in Australia

But I do pay excessive strata fees, council rates etc

But if I was going to rent in Pattaya the Flybird condominium had them from 2,500 a month

Not everyone at 67 is eligible for the old age pension in Australia unlike the UK

I live on  less than 40,000 baht now living in Australia ,don't most people who own their own homes?

Shop at Aldi , electricity $150 month average , water $80 a month,gym $62 a month

Internet $85 a month

Mobile phone $25 a month

Maybe order takeaway every now and again

I don't go to pubs clubs bars

Yes, this is a common illness from most of the miserable, grumpy members here, some think they own the forum. Yesterday I replied to a members comment and I was told that I was off topic....control freak. 😡

I'd say most here who are negative towards your posts are the same people bombarding you with the thumbs down emojis that antagonize you.

But as you say, they keep coming back.

Keep up the good work mate 👍

I'm expecting quite a few thumbs down on this comment, maybe I can beat my best of 50, I doubt I will beat your best 😂

No

It's a wonderful world Woodrow

I avoid the areas where tourists go. They are over hyped and way over priced.

To the title ...

... We do not, and actually avoid tourist (foreigner) spots.  Do seem to go to the 'local's' tourist spots, which would be ...

... restaurants & coffee shops designed in or around pleasant setting

... with a view, or nice landscaping

Same with accommodations.

We don't do Nat. Parks, as anti duel pricing.  OK, sounds good, but if price was the same, would still avoid, as simply not worth any admission price, with few exceptions.

Only time we hit the big foreigner tourist spots, was during the scamdemic, when the foreign tourist, or most anyone, weren't there.

See some replies mention massage shops and pricing.  Massage shops ... NO

Pricing is never an issue, as sometimes you get what you pay for, and well worth it, and sometimes, we're thrifty, as value just as good.

My bill for the chocolate factory last Sunday night came to over 1600 baht including that dreaded service charge and VAT

Now this Frasers sports lounge is that mainly tourists or expats?

It's on that main Rd in Jomtien

I find the places that charge that dreaded service charge  mainly are  for tourists

Useally go to decent restaurants and sports bars when going holidays.

A few pints of Irish beers and some chicken wings if we sit for a few hours, but never do a whole night out. Dinner, wine or a few beers that's it.

Living in Isaan gives good balance in life with homestay and Holidays.

for eg I was at a Pattaya sports bar last night I think called Brewdog in Soi Bukhao

Very beautiful but higher end prices because of air conditioning comfort

Do you go to S&P cafe?

Air conditioning sports lounges brewdog etc

Walking street go go bars

Chocolate factory restaurant

May I ask do you expats frequent the same places as us tourists ?

Pattaya is crap buddy. I gave you advice.

I would like to share this song with you. Please press play and sing along....

Marin's in the corner shouting like a king

Georgegeorgia's laughing sipping on a pink drink

The neon's buzzing louder than their fight

Pattaya's pulsing through the night

[Prechorus] A stiletto drops a beat so sharp

High heels click like a racing heart

Who's got the charm who's got the glow

The ladyboys steal the show

[Chorus] Marin Marin what’s your plan Georgegeorgia’s got the upper hand

In Pattaya where the lights don't sleep The stakes are high the laughs run deep

Who's the king of the dance floor now

[Verse 2] They’re throwing words like confetti in the air

Ladyboys twirl flipping perfect hair

Marin’s swagger slips George takes the stage

This is no fight it’s a parade

[Bridge] The crowd’s gone wild they’re cheering loud Marin and George just laugh it out

The ladyboys wink they own the crown Pattaya’s magic spun them round

[Chorus] Marin Marin what’s your plan

Georgegeorgia’s got the upper hand

In Pattaya where the lights don't sleep

The stakes are high the laughs run deep

Who's the king of the dance floor now?
