Has this forum collectively given up on the UK?

Once more - keep on topic.  This isn't about the US or anything in the US.  Posts with comparisons to the US are fine, as long as you compare and contrast.  Posts about the US as the sole content of the post are off-topic.

Once more the topic is:  "Has this forum collectively given up on the UK?"

  • Everything the left touches turns to sh*t.

  • As there are 4 threads currently on the first page of "political soapbox" referring to the UK, two of which deal with aspects relating to the "western trainwreck" you discern there, one must assume no

Things would be better if it was a colony full of museums.

Give the racism a rest.....only 1.7% of the population was black.

Nothing about racism. I don't know their actual background, so I wrote 'black'. (What do you call them; 'Coloured Britons'??) 😆

Besides, in London, even back then, the percentage of immigrants from Africa and the Caribbean was way more than 1.7% of the population...

cheap labor?

I was in London earlier this year Heathrow was a madhouse of immigration. How in the hell do they find places for these people to live?  I will say for now London is, in my opinion, still the greatest city in the world I hope to god it stays this way.

Here's what our ranting Brexiters won't tell you. 🤣

Since Brexit, UK has nearly stopped importing white Christian Poles (among other EU citizen), to replace them with Nigerian, Pakistanis, Indian and Filipino.

- Pre-Brexit: EU citizens made up the majority of immigrants, especially from countries like Poland, Romania, France, and Spain.
- Post-Brexit: EU net migration has turned negative — more EU citizens are leaving the UK than arriving. In 2024, EU net migration was –96,000.
- Non-EU migration now dominates, accounting for 69% of arrivals in 2024, mostly for work and study.

Top Non-EU Source Countries
- India: Major increase in student and skilled worker visas.
- Nigeria: Surge in health and care worker migration.
- Pakistan, Bangladesh, and China: Continued strong inflows for education and family reunification.
- Philippines: Growth in care sector recruitment.

---

Net Migration Trends
- 2022: Record high of 764,000 net migration.
- 2024: Dropped to 431,000, still higher than pre-Brexit averages (200,000–300,000).

No, but I think the emphasis is so heavily on the negative as to paint everything as bad

Maybe you don't understand enough about anything. We don't do revolts. They were democratically elected with a sweeping majority and it is their right to govern until such time as they are voted out.

That's the way it works.

Britain must reclaim its sovereignty by honoring its traditional culture, not bowing to Brussels. That being said, its only gonna happen via reform UK.

The UK officially left the EU in February 2020 - and had effectively ceased to be constrained by any new regulation originating from Brussels since June 2016 when the referendum result was announced - so you need to look elsewhere for a scapegoat for the UK's woes.

Maybe leaving the EU has exacerbated the UK's problems. Now there's a thought.

These white Christian Poles et al were not "imported", they could come and go as they pleased, because of the EU.

I know. My point, supported  by statistics, is that immigration from Europe has been substituted by immigration from countries such as Nigeria, Pakistan, India and the Philippines after Brexit.

This is exactly what I foresaw right after Brexit...

Same here ... plus any country that still worships a 'royal' family, apparently hasn't come out of the dark ages.   Harry, William, Chuck, Camilla ... oh my.

Want to catch up to the 21st Century, and maybe stop paying for a tourist attraction.  Is it still making money and are you getting any of it ?

How do y'all find the USA, that you hate, so much more interesting to talk about, while the Empire is going down the toilet, or so I read.

Damn it, Lotus's stopped selling my favorite Earl Grey ... 🤬

Mis-government is the only thing that has exacerbated the UK's problems.

Ridiculous! Read well this thread (and others), it's not me who complained about too many Muslims or non-white in UK! 😆

I find it hilarious that Brexiters and pro-Brexit MAGAs complain about it, while one of the main causes is Brexit! 🤣

Inept governments certainly haven't helped, but the idea that leaving the EU was a cure-all for the UK's problems - as some would have had us believe - has been shown to be nonsense. The UK's problems have been exacerbated by Brexit.

I didn't suggest that Brexit was a cure. There was always a lot of work to bed done but the conservatives mismanaged the Brexit process and also mismanaged their own immigration policies.

I didn't suggest that you were one of those that believed Brexit was a cure-all but - as I stated - there were certainly some who thought that way.

I also wouldn't disagree that the Tories' handling of the Brexit process was poor. However, whether it ultimately made much difference is imo very debatable. No matter how Brexit was managed it was always going to result in a negative outcome for the UK.
