Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and leader of the Bhumjaithai (BJT) Party, emerged as the leading candidate for premiership in a recent Khon Kaen University poll. Conducted from October 3 to 5, 2025, the survey involved 1,074 respondents aged 18 and above across 20 northeastern provinces. Anutin was favored by 24.3% of participants, outpacing opposition People's Party (PP) leader Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut, who garnered 22.8% support.

The E-Saan Poll aimed to understand local economic conditions and political inclinations. Other notable figures included Bangkok governor Chadchart Sittipunt with 19.1% support, businessman Natthaphong Khunakornwong at 7%, Yoschanan Wongsawat of Pheu Thai at 6.6%, and Sudarat Keyuraphan of Thai Sang Thai at 6.3%. In the constituency MP race, PP was preferred by 30.6% of respondents, followed closely by Pheu Thai at 27.4% and BJT at 12.3%; 20.1% remained undecided or had alternative opinions.

For party-list preference, the results were similar with PP leading at 41.7%, followed by Pheu Thai at 20.6%, and BJT at 12.6%. Anutin's personal popularity notably exceeded that of his party, attributed to the absence of a standout prime ministerial candidate from PP and Pheu Thai. Analysts suggest Chadchart Sittipunt's strong national appeal could significantly benefit any party that nominates him for prime minister.

Looking forward, political parties may adjust strategies to capitalize on these insights. The poll results highlight the shifting dynamics in voter preferences and the potential for influential figures like Chadchart to impact upcoming elections. As parties strategize, the electorate's evolving sentiments will play a crucial role in shaping future political landscapes.

Key Takeaways

  • Anutin Charnvirakul leads the premiership poll with 24.3% support.
  • PP is favored for constituency and party-list votes, with 30.6% and 41.7%, respectively.
  • Chadchart Sittipunt’s popularity could influence election outcomes if nominated.

Parties vs Leaders. Interesting, particularly in the case of PP.

What will PP's reaction be over time? noting the fascists' legal tightrope it always has to walk.

A survey of  1,074 persons out of, how many millions? SERIOUSLY. Why is it members of the same old "Club membets" are always recycled for top job?

The people decided in that joke of an election, when Most Fanoured party was "Hacked" out of  the system to ensure that the same old same old, are the only winners.

Are these clowns that stupid, they are unaware that the rest of the world is watching Thailand. It's  only a matter time before the Tutai hits the fan.

Let us hope not, this incredibly toxic man should be permanently barred from politics, after 10 years of disastrous co-leadership with Prayuth during the junta. Thailand is still paying the price for that, it's economy is still suffering from 10 years of the Prayuth Decimation.

The people will remember the traitors from the previous election, change is coming, these corrupt dinosaurs are on the way out...I do wait for the reckoning when an honest party is elected and the "guillotine" is brought out.

Why was the survey limited to northeastern provinces?   That makes it totally useless, unless the election will be limited to the 20 northeastern provinces surveyed and everybody else not allowed to vote.   Headline is a total mess.  We don't actually know if Anutin is 'favored for prime minister' at all, since the survey was so limited.

Like most polls, very limited sample demographic and nothing more than a headline. The People’s Party, for example,  support base is primarily younger, educated Thais who tend to be employed in cities and larger urban center's.

Maybe include them in the poll then come back with the results.

PP suffers with the label of being a party for a bunch of rich kids to dabble in politics, virtue signal, and get glam press interviews on the way to the next hiso cocktail party.

That might be a big indicator as to why

And compare that to the alternative...a dynasty of corrupt, greedy old criminals... Think I know which one i'd vote for

Anutin is one of the most corrupt Politicians in Thailand and his Blue Party is guilty of Senate money laundering. His party will not win the majority of votes of the citizens. It is most likely that the Peoples Party and PhuThai Party will form a coalition government.

Just read through the Thai news section to get your evidence, or do you expect to be spoon-fed?

Unfortunately the rest of the world is completely indifferent to the goings on in Thailand.  They have their own problems and have seen how little the population seems to care about doing something in their own country.

If he does, I wonder if he is part of the "WEF"?  For Thailands sake I hope not!

How about the senator case linked to Anutin (BJT) and which is waiting court ruling?

If you search the Thai news you will find it full of evidence of money laundering by Anutin's Party. The DSI has released numerous AI studies that have proved Anutin was complacent concerning his party's involvement in money laundering as well as Senate corruption involving the last election.
