A Pattaya go-go bar employee is being lauded for her integrity after returning a lost wallet with valuables worth over 200,000 baht to police. The wallet, found outside the Queen A-Go-Go bar, contained 9,700 Australian dollars, credit cards, and a passport belonging to an Australian tourist. This act aims to improve Pattaya's image as a safe destination for tourists.

The discovery occurred when Ms. Chomnat Sing-od, a 42-year-old staff member, found a black shoulder bag on the ground after dining with colleagues. Unsure of its ownership, she checked its contents and found significant valuables. To maintain transparency, she filmed a video of the items before reporting the incident to the police. Her decision was based on preserving her reputation and ensuring tourists feel secure in Pattaya.

Deputy Inspector Akkarapong Saenputtawong received the report and launched efforts to locate the bag's owner, described as a tall foreign man with specific attire and a tattoo. CCTV footage showed the man outside the bar, appearing weary and leaving without his bag. Local police are now trying to contact him to return his belongings.

Ms. Chomnat's actions have been widely praised, with experts noting the positive impact on Pattaya's reputation. This incident highlights the region's dedication to tourist safety, encouraging more visitors to trust local establishments. The local law enforcement is using the opportunity to assure tourists of their commitment to maintaining a safe environment.

Moving forward, Pattaya's police will continue their efforts to reunite the tourist with his possessions, setting an example of honesty and hospitality. This incident may also prompt further initiatives to enhance tourist experiences and perceptions, bolstering Pattaya's standing as a welcoming city.

Key Takeaways

  • A Pattaya bar staff member returned a wallet with over 200,000 baht in valuables.
  • The wallet's owner is an Australian tourist, identified via CCTV.

Nice play. Good for you miss.

In an environment where someone is always looking around your feet for dropped cash or attempting to slip a finger in your shirt pocket this is oh so pleasing

He went for a wander up walking street with 9,700 Australian dollars, in his pocket....  :omfg:     ..... was he wearing a gold chain as well.

Wandering around Go Go Bar's with a bag full of money ? Either stupidity or drug money ! I hope the honest lady gets at least 10% reward !

Usually after a spate of bad news involving tourists, it's an honest taxi driver who restores Pattaya's reputation.

Kudos to the girl... as for the attached comment... no comment.

Looks like the Queen-a-go-go is a must visit for tourists. 😃

Where did it report that he has been "wandering around Go Go bars" or that his bag was "full of money?   His bag was found in the street.

Possibly because there are, for example, many cynical, Thai-bashing AN posters who may suggest that she took a reward in advance.

Well good for her better than the usual taxi drivers  stories

Would have thought it's the decent thing to do hope she gets a reward

On about the Thai tourist board trying to promote and benefit from this image

What can one say desperation comes to mind

That's, at least, 97 banknotes... Someone was out to have a big party night. Didn't know, Aussies carried that much cash with them.

Maybe the taxi drivers were too busy that night... 😆

He might have just arrived in Thailand, hence the cash. Can leave Oz with up to 10,000 dollars without declaring it.

I regularly have 5 or 6 thousand on me when I go to Thailand.

When did Queen gogo move from Lk metro to walking street ?

A great example of "do unto others" Christian morality was played out here. We need to see more of this morality here and the better off Thailand will be.

The Buddhist morality is even better.

A Buddhist may say they lost it due to karma, or they lost it so the other person would find it. Or, they lost it to learn a lesson about why it was not important.

But they would not say that slavery is OK.

This crazy honesty is incredibly annoying if it's your girlfriend.

Deflection onto another issue.

I wouldn’t carry that much cash visiting the Vatican.   He is one lucky son of a gun she is the one that found it and if he can walk around with that much cash he certainly can reward her with a LARGE reward.

As opposed to claiming the moral high ground for christianity? You started this nonsense.

Yep! Pickpockets everywhere outside of the Vatican and plenty of conmen on the inside.

In such a world of dishonesty and cheating all over in Thailand, such actions of honesty do deserve full credit and respect....not matter if all was filmed, posted all over etc etc etc...fact is that she turned in a sum of money that is of big value in Thailand.
