5 must-try American restaurants in Bangkok | Thaiger

Thai food might reign supreme, but sometimes you just want a taste of home. Maybe it’s a juicy burger with melted cheese, a pile of pancakes soaked in syrup, or the smoky aroma of barbecue done right.

Bangkok has no shortage of spots dishing up real American flavours. Here are five American restaurants in the city worth trying — in no particular order.

1. Mickey’s Diner BKK

The restaurant (left) / Waffle Benedict (right) at Mickey's Diner

Opening hours: Daily, 8am to 11pm

Address: Mickey’s Dinner BKK, GF Floor, Gaysorn Amarin (Gaysorn Village)

Mickey’s Diner captures the classic American diner vibe right in the heart of Bangkok. Think shiny steel panels, green leather booths, and the comforting scent of coffee and fried food — straight out of the 1950s.

The menu sticks to American comfort favourites. The standout is the American fried rice with crispy chicken, with fried chicken and waffles a close second. A fresh Caesar salad makes a solid starter, and the strawberry milkshake nails that nostalgic touch.

Service is friendly and fast, and the food comes out just how you want it. It’s an easygoing spot when you want something hearty, simple, and familiar.

2. 25 Degrees Burger Bar

Opening hours: 24 hours

Address: 25 Degrees Burger Bar, Pullman Bangkok Hotel G

If a great burger can turn your day around, head to 25 Degrees Burger Bar at Pullman Bangkok Hotel G. Open 24/7, it delivers that true American diner feel with dim lighting, red booths, and the smell of sizzling burgers in the air.

The menu doesn’t hold back. Highlights include the award-winning Number One burger with caramelised onions and gorgonzola, and the Barbecue Burger loaded with house-made sauce. You’ll also find hot dogs, wings, fries, pancakes, and waffles served all day.

Vegetarians and vegans aren’t left out — Beyond Burgers and colourful salad bowls are just as satisfying. And yes, the thick milkshakes are a must.

3. Fatty’s Bar & Diner

Fatty's Bar & Diner, an American Restaurant in Bangkok

Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 12am / Sunday, 11am to 10pm

Address: Fatty’s Bar & Diner, Asoke-Din Daeng Road

In the heart of Bangkok, this unpretentious spot brings a slice of the American Midwest to the city. The exterior might look a little worn, but inside it’s warm, relaxed, and full of character. Vintage signs line the walls, and there’s almost always live music setting the mood.

The menu sticks to American comfort classics. The Philly cheesesteak is a local favourite, packed with tender beef and melted cheese, while the buffalo burger is another hit. Add a side of cheese curds or mozzarella sticks — both are worth it. Service is quick, prices are fair, and the friendly crew make you feel right at home.

4. Bourbon Street Restaurant & Oyster Bar

Bourbon Street Bangkok, a Louisiana, American restaurant in Bangkok

Opening hours: Daily, 7am to 12am

Address: Bourbon Street Restaurant & Oyster Baar, Ekkamai

Bourbon Street Restaurant & Oyster Bar has been serving up Louisiana flavours in Bangkok for decades, and it still carries that familiar, easygoing charm regulars love. Located in Ekkamai, this long-running American restaurant is all about bold Cajun and Creole cooking.

Start with fresh oysters, creamy spinach and artichoke dip, or Cajun shrimp. The gumbo is a standout — rich, hearty, and deeply flavoured — while the seafood jambalaya brings real Southern spice.

For something heavier, go for the ribs or the prime ribeye, both done perfectly. The Italian cheese sausage is a cult favourite too. And don’t leave without dessert — the bread pudding and tableside-flamed Bananas Foster finish the meal right.

5. Roadhouse Barbecue Bangkok

Ribs Half Rack at Roadhouse Barbecye Bangkok is served with corn bread, FF, and coleslaw

Opening hours: Daily, 11am to 1am

Address: Roadhouse Barbecue, Rama IV Road

If you’re craving real American barbecue in Bangkok, this restaurant on Rama IV Road is a great choice. The place stretches across three floors, with plenty of seating and one of the biggest draft beer selections in town. Here, you can dig into a plate of smoky ribs or wings and still have room for a cold pint.

The menu covers all the classics, such as slow-cooked brisket, juicy burgers, steak, pulled pork sandwiches, and seafood platters that taste like summer cookouts. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and the staff keep things running smoothly even when it’s packed.

I used to go to Bourbon Street years ago when it was in Washington Square.  (Sukhumvit 22?)

Someone will be disappointed you didn't mention Pancake Palace.

Madrid used to have chicken fried steak and really great pizza. All that stuff listed above is fast food in a booth.

I'm an American and I'm wondering what makes a restaurant American?

Fatty's is a great name.

They are brutally honest about what the vast majority of their customers probably look like after consuming 10,000 calorie meals on a regular basis.

Possibly that the seats are rated at 300Kg.

I don't know either, but I would drive 2 hours to Bangkok if they opened a real Denny's.

The golden arches.

Way back when an American guy had a Mexican restaurant in an old French Embassy in BKK. Los Cabos I think.....he'd fly in the poblano chiles for the chile rellenos, I'd fly in from Phuket to do a couple nights of those.

Now thats good American eating, Mexican food, real Mexican not some sham taco slop. Is that French Embassy building still there?

Unfortunately not, I also used to dine there frequently.  Food was outstanding, it was 'Cal-Mex', the owner previously ran a restaurant in the San Francisco financial district.

Soi 33. It was open all night. We used to pig out at 5 in the morning after the bars closed. wonderful place.

I'd specifically go down to BBK for some grub if there was a Katz Deli or a Terry Black's Barbecue somewhere.

For those closer to Pattaya, then recommend Mano's Cheesesteaks just off South Pattaya Road. Chef is Matt from California. Screenshot_20251019-131818_Maps.jpg.fc129eba706eb145f90d903229582f2d.jpg

I’d like a French restaurant with traditional french food , and that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.

I recommend La Galette off Sukhumvit Soi 38. Only been open a couple of months, owner is former Chef Pâtissier in Paris (20 years).
