She's on one of those motorbike side car things, various types of baguette, they look good, she said she's in Buakhao from 5pm but i saw her there yesterday 1pm, anyone tried yet? it's different

It’s a traditional Vietnamese sandwich. My mother in law made them every morning , or to send the kids on their way to school. It’s a soft roll ,very light, with various fillings , my favorite was with Gio lua , or Cha lua, a sort of ham, with or without the peppers. Delicious, eaten fresh.

Depends, many use the softer bread and not the French baguette style bread.

The Thai's are the masters of photo presentation when it comes to Western food 

 

Look at their cream buns and many other treats, it always looks delicious, sadly once you take the first bit it's not very nice, very disappointing. 

 

If I want quality western food I'll go tto the original western food vendors, pay more but never disappointed 

 

This article food from the vendor, good beer food, a night out, taste buds don't exist 

 

Anyway, thanks for the posting, I'm sure they will get a lot of business

I've had a sandwich from her , she was parked behind TukCom this time. It was good but not a classic banh mi with toasted french bread .

The issue with bánh mì is that it is often made with cheap quality bread. Most people don't seem to care, but to a French person this is problematic.

and using a lot of oil to fry, probably the cheapest and reused....back to the same problem eating out in Thailand

The French dont eat Banh mi, the Vietnamese do. I have found their French bread to be quite nice. The soft ones tend to be here in Thailand.

I tried some waffles from a waffle stand...first bite and I spat it out into the nearest bin. Taste of flour and dough. Rubbish. Most don't have a clue as to an authentic product. My first disappointment many moons ago was the lack of real cream in cream cakes.

I too love true French baguettes, coming from the SF bay area we have many but in general use sourdough.  I like the Vietnamese baguettes very much but as you say they are different. Hate the soft ones as well. Just googled this up, makes sense based on what I have eaten there.

While both share a crispy crust, the Vietnamese baguette has a thinner, crispier shell and a softer, fluffier interior. This difference is due to the use of rice flour blended with wheat flour, making it less dense and perfect for sandwiches like the famous bánh mì

big c pattaya klang has a baker from belgium, he knows how to make western cakes

Second that, Big C Klang has the best bakery I've known in Thailand.

Erm...it's okay. But certainly not the best. Compare a Croissant aux Amandes from there to one from say, La Baguette. Of course he is working to a price and the products aren't terrible.

I find that I need to go to different places for different products or just make them myself.

Agree, lots of Western bakers here selling quality food. 

Sadly, they do not sell from the food carts. 

Beware, do not eat the sausage rolls etc from the food carts, looks great but very disappointing 

Again, they've mastered the presentation but sadly the taste fails the test. 

 

Why even bring up western bakers, seems weird on this thread. 

 

I'm not in a good mood at the moment.

no im not, its just my experience that thai food is really nice, but the deserts just dont appeal to me, like at all

I haven't actually lived in – or been to – Pattaya for years, but it used to be very good and on the same level as La Baguette. At the time, French-owned La Boulange would distribute products to them and several other places such as Food Mart in Jomtien.

Things could have changed though, for various reasons – for example, I've seen good vendors have a dip in quality because they sourced cheaper products when going through tough economic times.

Thai food is the best, affordable and tasty. 

 

If you want to eat western food, don't buy from a Thai vendor 

 

3rd road, Thai restaurant selling steak for 69 baht. Ha ha, who has tried that, bet you it's tasty 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Most here would struggle chewing it with their false teeth, I bet it's water buffalo. 

Probably the same buffalo that got sick recently and died.

Had some bahn mi in Hoi An a few weeks ago, really hard to eat, they put the bread rolls in some sort of oven first and made them really hard and crispy, it was like eating a wine glass, all these sharp bits sticking into my mouth.
